6.5TD coughing and stalling ?!?!?!?!?!?

:thumbsup:pOLISH A TURD ITS STILL A TURD:thumbsup:

How about this, I try your little Jim dandy cure all and when this truck is still a Gutless dog, I get to yank it out throw it at you ?

Mike

You know, Mike, I never thought I'd say this, but you go do what you want, OK?

The guys here have given you great advice; we've welcomed you to the board, tried to help you out with your frustrations, and you're just trying to stir the pot.

If you're trying to annoy me, you have succeeded. Congratulations.

Now drop it... if you don't want advice, don't ask.

Wanted to make some more power with out Doing a chip.
I thought that there was other things a guy could do to the 6.5 with out touching the ECM.
This Manual wast gate thing sounds interesting but i'm not so sure i like the idea of Manual ? dose that mean i have to do some thing ? then i have know when to manually do what ever needs to be done ? sounds like not a mod for me.
Waste gate is out chip is out Exhaust is out PMD i had enough dealings with that unit so i'm going with better part of valer and leaving it alone.
So the answer to the question is there anything i can do to get more power ? NO NO theres not !
Simply because i either don't know what it is your talking about on some of them and on others i had expirences in the past so i refuse to do them.
others like running High Performance single is stupid if the truck can't have duels then the new exhaust thats there shall remain on it. As why remove a new single exhaust to reinstall another single exhaust ? seem like a waste of money.
if the exhaust was old and going bad or already in need of replacing that would make sense.

I guess i don't understand these motor and i never will so when its time for a new truck i'll more then likely not get another Diesel.
I never had this much trouble with a diesel engine in 1.5ton and bigger trucks so i guess for the 1.25ton and smaller i'll just stick to a Gasser. . .

The reason I take the truck to the track is not to be the fastest guy out there (I had a 66 Chevelle SS for that)....the reason is to show everyone what differences certain bolt-ons can make.

For the record, it wasn't tenths of a second that were shaved.....duh....but you would know that if you actually did the searching...

I think I can speak for more than one of us here when I say, "the next time you ask a question, don't be surprised if you don't get an answer"....and, "don't let the door hit your ass on the way out"...

Thats fantastic and all. . . I sure 20hp will be noticeable at a race when you can see the times change. . . I'm not looking an extra .001 or .01 as on the street you'll never notice somthing like that. . . you'll need a .1 and my might notice it. . . I don't take my truck to a race track i have an AMX and Trans am for that. . .I drive my truck to work and back home. . .I want some power boost i'll notice going up the on ramp to the highway. . .An extra 1/10th on a race track you notice that and extra 7hp on a dyno you notice that, Now the extra 7hp and the xtra .10 at the track you will not notice going up the on ramp to the high way i have proved that point a dozen times with the T/A. . .
Tearing up the on ramp without the chip felt the same as with it but at the track it ran on average .15 faster. kinda of like the throttle body spacers for the TBI's yup they give you more power but not enough to feel it. . .

The 6.5 is not on top of anyones list of performance engines out of them all its the Slug of the group. . .
Your prolly right I should pay it off and move up to a real truck. . .

It sucks having a Diesel that gets out preformed by Gasser :mad2:

Mike

Go to dieselplace.come they can help you better over there.

Let it go, everybody. Mike didn't get the answer he was looking for, but he's still welcome here as part of this community.

None of us knew everything there was to know right off the bat, either. Right now he doesn't understand his 6.5 and thinks it's going to behave just like a gasser. If he reads the tech threads around here, he might learn the truth; then again, he might not.

You can't force somebody to learn.

Let it go, please.

Jim

So others dont read and misunderstand, dual exhaust on a turbo diesel is a waste of money and space, unless you have twin turbo or no turbo where you can have true dual exhaust for each manifold. turbo basics on why you need larger exhaust for more power/efficieny. The PCM reflash just happens to be the single most effective in power and cost and time and effort mod, once you have the upgraded exhaust.

Manual wastegate controller doesnt mean you have to do anything, just means the PCM doesnt control the actuator with vacuum, its based on spring tension and exhaust backpressure and allows you to remove the vacuum pump from the belt if you get a shorter belt.

When someone suggests something, its probably a good idea to do some reasearch on it, or ask plain questions about how it works if you dont understand how a turbo diesel works.

I said a few pages back i was no longer interested you all kept pushing your fantastic Cure all PCM unit that i am not interested in so LET IT GO ! ! ! ! !

This NOT my first diesel this just the first i had power issues with and wanted more power. the 59 Mack has a diesel i was told to get more power and better revs simply pull out the spring in the injector pump strech it out drop it back with a thick fender washer.
So i did Night and day difference then it got a straight piped stack. . .I did a simuliar thing to the 8.3L in the 97' FL-70 , and the old 7.8L in the 84' F-700 was also modified in the same way . . .The sterling has plenty of Go power runs out nicely

For the record i also had a 1982 Chevtte with a 1.8L diesel i though was a bit doggy straight piped the Exhaust that car got up and went a little better...

From what i got told there was none of these freebie Mods or low cost Mods your chip costs about what i invested in all 3 big trucks. .. .

So NOPE i am NOT interested in your CHIP thanks for you time. . .Next time when i say NEVERMIND that means drop it not BADGER till i buy your PRODUCT. . .

This guy needs a vacation.....

I have already explained to him ad naseum that you cannot have a *true* dual exhaust on a single turbo vehicle (at thedieselgarage.com)......duh....

To quote someone I know, "you can't teach a rock".....take it for what it's worth...

We don't capriciously lock threads here, gentlemen, but I *DID* ask everybody to quit.

Please. This is our place - don't mess it up like some other forums...

Don't make me stop this truck and come back there...

MIke. If you want to know exactly what the wastegate controller and the exhaust will do, go to Kennedy Diesel web site Go to the "Gallery" and then to the "dyno" charts (upper right picture), this has a 6.5 run with said mods.
