5.7 diesel up and running

The shop called today saying the collar is ready.Heres a picture of what it looks like. There isn’t much to it but I’m going to use larger outside diameter flat washers so the collar/ring doesn’t decide to work loose and fall out.Its a tight fit though.I had the pulley off and the collar is pretty tight upon the balancer.

I also bench bled the master cylinder and it’s back on the truck. The pushrod under the dash is also connected now to the brake pedal.Tomorrow if I get a chance I hope to put the grille back in place and the optional hood latch cable and the various parts that came with it.Instead of opening the hood from the outside,a cable will be used inside the cab.

Never herd of it afore.
I may of heard of that product before but I have’nt used it.The balancer and pulley are back on the engine and torqued in place after using some loctite.I’m looking forward in getting this truck road ready.I don’t have much more to do with it but I’m pretty eager to start driving it again. Its been about 15yrs.

Anyone tried this stuff?

Ummmm.... Yeah.... Relying on a FaceCrook video featuring 'Papaw' as our resident expert that also references TikTik as a set of fact check points. That'll win some Nobel prizes for scientific discovery. <SMH> :banghead:

Oh, and I noticed that Dr. Papaw did not bother to repeat the test with just the mystery oil stuff to prove that it would not have created the same divot in the test material. Gotta love love it when somebody presents red dyed water as wine.

Yelp, if you're going to test stuff, do so with an equal test, as they say apples to apples, not apples to oranges. He should have started fresh when he tested the Prolube the same exact way for sure.

Today some archoil diesel injector cleaner arrived from Amazon and another serpentine USA made belt for my 5.7 diesel.I look forward in using the archoil product in the 5.7 and my other diesel vehicles.I read archoil is a good product.

Aren’t they new injectors? Shouldn’t need cleaning for 30k miles or so…
I did buy a set of 8 several years ago in gm boxes but I had trouble with two right from the start. So I had them checked and the shop found two out of 8 that were faulty. So they sent me two reman injectors. As of now the engine has a slight rough idle so I just figured once the liquimoly cleaner is consumed with this tank of fuel I’ll try using the archoil to see if it makes any difference.

My understanding is that the archoil is more for cleaning, and I wouldn’t expect that to help anything in new or rebuilt ip/injectors.
If it has a really good lubricating property, ok.
But the idea of moly into the fuel or heavy dose of atf can do the same. But that should only help with longevity, not cleanup any rough idle.

You can verify timing. But my suggestion is dont panic on the rough idle unless it is really rough. Get the engine fully broken in. Then start chasing the idle. ID individual cylinder misfire by cracking the injector line nut. Once the rings are fully seated and you done the first two oil changes you can do the trick of putting all 8 injectors into bottles and just crank the engine to measure the volume of fuel is equal. If it comes out unequal, you swap a high cylinder with low cylinder and try to equal them out.

Thank you will👍

I had to make a bracket so the hydro boost pushrod could be attached to the brake pedal lever.Seems this newer hydro boost fits the 90s gm trucks instead but I was able to make it work out okay.I reused the original hydroboost firewall mounting bracket from 1979 which worked out good also.I did loctite the big nut in place that holds the mounting bracket to the unit.

Next thing to check is the length of the rod from the hydroboost to the master cylinder.
Step son bought vac boost/master cylinder set to convert his 67 chevy truck to power brakes.
He screwed with that for two or three days then finally calls Me.
I go over and adjust the pedal to booster rod, still no fluid action in the MC reservoir.
Pull the master off to the side.
The adjuster bolt is a long ways from its work, even after i adjusted it all the way out. Went home and dug through the green folgers jug, green for metric, found a proper size 10.9 bolt that had plenty of thread, screwed that in and kept checking until it was a perfect fit, locknut it down, put it all back together, bled out the brakes and sent it.
