Realistically now... How much weight can I tow?

Don't let the tail wag the dog. You need more stability when pulling one of those big hair fifth wheels. Been there, done that. Pulled a 34 ft 16K fifth behind a '01 F350 SRW with a chip and big exhaust, etc. Tons of power. Through the Rockies on I-90 at 70 MPH. Argued with people right...

Diesel power mag w/ 6.2/6.5 in it

Read the article the other day at Barnes & Noble. Yes, I'm that cheap. Not much there that any member of this site probably does not already know (if you have been here for more than 6 months). Mostly a list of bolt on things and where to get them. Not a real in depth how-to-article. The...

The word "obsessive" comes to mind. Also "jealous".

    A/C help please

WarWagon Thanks. Please define "noisy" as relates to compressor. I ask because I don't hear noise from my compressor. Thanks guys for all the info. I think my next step is evac system, flush system, new dryer, r134 and probably no more compressor oil.

    A/C help please

Not to piddle on your parade, but you can get them both new for 230.00. What about the job of R/R the dryer/accumulator? Leery of screwing up those aluminum pipes. And given my luck, I could sure has heck mess them up.

    A/C help please

Is that the one with the built in muffler, the bump in the pipe just before the compressor?

    A/C help please

My a/c had a leak and all the r134a was gone. Had to replace the high side input valve. So that fixed the leak. Prior to finding that the leak was present, had a shop put in coolant and they put gauges on it and with coolant, had high side reading of 300 to 350, just sitting there at idle...

    What Engine Did I Get??

X2. Same production date here. Have the dual thermostat and HO waterpump. Would like to know about the 141 block, i.e. when did they stop installing them?

    Reviving The Bus Engine

Bummer. Well, you are not too far from Fargo and there is a guy on craigslist here, won't post a link, but he says he has lots of 6.5's and parts. I talked with him and am in the process of getting a non-egr intake and a round element air intake. He says he has several running 6.5's and lots...

Some of the 86 and early 87 6.9s had block cracking issues. Like the 6.5, some survived and some did not. If you have one from that era and no cracks yet, then it ain't gonna crack at this point. T'was a weakness in the block near the block heater as I recall. Aces is talking about...

Semi Retire my 6.5 for a Powerstroke 6.0?

Well, after a good night's sleep, let me say a couple of good things about the 6.0. 1. The auto tranny is superb. That extra gear (as opposed to the auto in the 7.3) was real nice. 2. I am a retired claims adjuster and thus from a professional point of view, the crunch-ability of the...

Semi Retire my 6.5 for a Powerstroke 6.0?

Hope you got a nice cushy butt, cause that ford is gonna ride like a log truck compared to your K1500. Ask me why I know this. You are going to learn new combinations of four letter words, cause just one or two won't satisfactorily express your frustration and contempt. Ask me why I know...

    6.9 IDI no start

Thanks for the welcome. First posts are like belly buttons. Everybody has one. My first diesel truck was a 1988 F250 dually. Late 80's were the heyday of conversions and several companies took F250's and made duallys out of them. It was a sweet truck. 6.9 with a Banks turbo and a full set...
