My truck in my signature averages 16-17 hot-footin' it around town (I don't haul anything, -I just haul butt) ):h
I'm running 285's for tires
GM-4 is wired shut, peak boost levels are around 18-24.
Non intercooled, no WMI, EGT's well below 1000 pre-turbo, runs very well.
WELCOME!!
It's always nice to have another six-fiver on the forum, -welcome!!
The other "place" is a little too commercialized for my liking, -and a couple of the mod's over there seem to have a serious case of little-man-syndrome. Besides that, they guys that built the 6.5 section over...
I am sure there are newer lists out there. I copied and pasted that list several years ago (sorry I can't take credit for making the list, I merely "borrowed" it) ):h
I have never heard of (or seen) a DS4 with the 5221 suffix. That doesn't mean it doesn't exist, -although it doesn't show up on the stanadyne list either.
As one of the guys pointed out, maybe it was mis-stamped????
That really is a bummer deal. I have had great success with their heads, and their service.
What a shame they just gave you the cold shoulder, -that's never encouraging, -especially when your talking about something as serious as that.
I guess when it comes to aftermarket stuff we are...
I don't run head studs on my 6.5, but have built countless SBC/BBC using Rectorseal "True Blue". It is not only a thread sealer, but also has locking/retaining ability as well. It is a semi soft-set compound that easily disassembles.
As far as the nut-end, I always used moly-paste and...
I've worked with a lot of machine shops over the years, and I can tell ya that it is difficult for them to polish anything more than .0005" without fighting out of round and taper.
On the other hand, it is also extremely difficult for them to set up and grind less than .002"-.003" radially...
Hey Michael, what's goin' on?? It's been a while, -sorry to hear that thing is giving you fits.
Any update on symptoms? Did the PS do the trick??
Something I think you might want to check is fuel fittings (sometimes air can leak-in when they sit), and to check for voltage at each and every...
As far as feeling like an a$$, -I have you all beat.
I destroyed a freshly built 18:1 motor and broke a mint condition 506 block because a shoprag got sucked into an intake port.
The sound of coolant running into the oil pan on a freshly built engine was enough to literally make my heart...
I tried and tried to get all the air out of mine on more than one occasion, -the whole while it was knockin' and clankin' and dropping cyl's (sounds terrible).
Neither my DS, or my DB would clear the air out of two lines until I bled, -and re-bled, -then went out, hit the road and tromped on...
Mike, I got your message and was going to call you back, but got busy with the kids this weekend.
I agree that this would be the best idea. You would get ALL the parts you need, -and you have no questions about how the stuff is supposed to go together (not that you couldn't figure it out)...
You are well on your way!! BTW, got your email with pictures, -loved the t-shirt!! ):h
You are becoming a 6.5 knowledge database and don't even know it!!
