My 2005 Yukon XL

Well trans lines went much better today. Up until the last line going from the aux cooler to the trans. Just couldn't get it to clip, the flare was just not right. I wasn't pulling that stupid thing back out. Sat there with emery cloth and filed the seat down by hand. Finally got a good seal with a click. Missing the trans lines plastic holders, cobbled up some loom and a zip tie for now, need to find something better or OEM.

Also started the upper control arm bushings.

At your local hydraulic shop they make custom hydraulic hoses all day.
You know my stance on engine cooler hoses. Steel lines are nice here because nothing rusts. In rusty areas I don’t understand why people stay with metal lines and factory crappy connectors outside of initial cost. Do the math if the investment is worth it to you.
 
Yeah, next time (expecting 2 years) I will not be doing this again. To be honest, I didn't plan on replacing the trans lines at all. I will look into a custom setup. I have long term plans for a 40K TruCool auxiliary cooler which will need custom lines. Just didn't have the funds right now for it.

I bought some yellow because it was about half price. I'm not so sure how much I saved after making it black or red.

I think I got all of my connectors / cable ends from Waytek

Stackable battery cable ends, terminals, lugs

you can get torch sets fairly cheap on amazon, and if you don't want the expense of renting both oxy and acc, you can run oxy and propane. that's mostly what we use at my work. doesn't get "as" hot but will cut and braise well. it's when you need to cut thick steel or use a rose bud when you really need the acc. you can rent the oxy tanks from your local welding supply and use a bbq propane tank with a propane torch regulator, just make sure you run a cutting tip made for propane. $20 to refill the bbq cylinder vs the $50-70 to swap out acc tanks.
 
Yes, it's been on my wish list for a long time! All I need is a mini set for what I would do. I actually have a plasma cutter, but not enough compressor to utilize yet.

We use propane and oxygen a lot at work for cutting steel. If I was to do my projects at work I would have access to it. But that's a 45 min drive each way.
 
the one I linked is a knock-off from china. I was just looking at the reviews and it seems the tanks are also not DOT approved meaning no one here in the states will fill them. might be a better option to just plan to buy new tanks here and get the setup without tanks online.
 
My former brother-in-law GAVE me a brand new ox-acetylene set, the tall oxygen and acetylene tanks, Victor medium duty manifold/torch with all the tips about 30 years ago. He was a Regional Sales Manager for Praxair at the time. I modified a two wheel hand dolly into a welding tank cart and bought 25' of hose to extend the factory hose set so I could leave the tanks in the back of the garage and use the torch on something out in the driveway. Or, if I had the tanks secured in the bed of Money Maker, I had 40' of hose to reach with to whatever I needed to torch. That free set came in handy several times, like getting a stubborn bearing pressed out that just wouldn't budge with my 20 Ton press, just a little bit of 'warming up' around the knuckle and 'POP!', bearing moved!
 
Got some different wheels for cheap and only 21-minutes from the house. Going to mount some General grabbers on them that I got for a bargain as new take offs. I need to get new lug nuts as well.

I am fighting a PO300 code that triggers a solid CEL. Trying to get a scanner capable of live data so we can see what cylinders are the culprit. I've got an OBDLink EX usb to obd2 for my ForScan. I tried it with some free programs for Windows 10 but I can't access the features I need without subscribing. Pbd Auto Doctor and Easy OBDII. Currently it has a stutter in the idle, and at cruise TCC lock, tip in throttle has a hiccup.

Would love to get an Autel bi-directional but I've already spent my budget and Chriatmas is coming for the kids. Thinking a lower class unit like Zurich or Fox-something on Amazon. I need live data for cylinder imbalance, fuel trims, O2 volts, misfires, etc.

I use an app called Car Scanner on my iphone, its a paid app that I think cost 3.99 on the app store but uses a generic bluetooth OBD plug. so far it's worked on several newer vehicles. it does live data too. the app also has the option in the settings for usb, but you'd have to find an adapter to use it on your phone. I'm sure you can get that app on an android phone or tablet too. usb to micro usb or usb-c adapters are easier to find than one for the iphone.
