Working on the 93......

i'm thinking IP. might not be the one that was removed. i have another one i need to look at to determine.
here's what happens when i leave the frame mounted LP plugged in:
Unplug it then.

Patient to doctor "it hurts when I do this"
Doctor- Don't do that.

Leroy, it was/is unplugged.
this is as far as i got today:
starting to sound like it did before.sounds like it's cammed.
it would only catch with GP overide on.

i will work on it again tomorrow. like i've done for 'god knows when'.
when will it ever end? when can i drive and not have to fix? getting tired of this truck......

I haven't thrown ideas out yet cuz nothing seems quite right to the issue. Maybe something will stand out.

When you installed the tank, are both lines submerged? As in the return line needs to be or air creeps it's way back up into the ip through the return.

One thing I noticed in the video where Leroy said the LP is loud, I never heard it quiet down from getting to full prime before starting, usually they do

What is the deal with the shut off solenoid and something jury rigged? Partially closed lets it partially run.

A lot of the "cammed" sound is from the egr ports and open exhaust, but it still sounds like you have a miss.

The last video the glowplugs dont seem to get it quite hot enough, then the repeated cranking raises heat and gets it about there. Then whatever the miss is wont let it run. I know you are pulling the ds valve cover, which since you already have the other off I say ok, hopefully a rocker button shows up.

My preference is before pulling all that apart, crack all 8 injector nuts listening for any variation. That will show anything like a valve stuck closed or individual injector/ cylinder issue. After that, compression test, which if your other valve cover removal reveals nothing is your next step.

We know you replaced tank to IP, but same injector lines and injectors- possible blockage there.

You ignored your truck for 5 years, she is just trying to make up for lost time- give her a hug maybe?

both lines are submerged. i removed them and cleaned it all up.
LP wasn't primed.(Leroy was right) i raised the temp tank and it was primed in the last vid.
solenoid replaced the fuel shut off solenoid. it completely shuts off, kills the engine, and fully opens, letting it run. i have it removed in vids to eliminate it as a problem.
i will remove VC next. my compression tester is from HF and it sucks.
can't get it to run long enough to crack lines yet.
same inj lines but injectors were all replaced, popped at 2000 and spray pattern was good.

have a direction to take tomorrow:
rig up a remote start trigger....
place hand over intake ports, feel for blow back....
check battery/starter wiring....
run compression check....

cranked it while having a hand oner intake ports. number 5 and 7 had no suction. determined it could be 1 of 3 things: valve rail loose, lifters out or HG.
gonna pull VC tomorrow to inspect. suggested to remove GP's and crank with finger over hole to determine if pistons have a hole in them.
i'm hoping it's the rocker rail.

thanks Leroy. haven't had much chance, due to our weather, to work on it till today. hope to get on it tomorrow too.

worked on it after it warmed up enough for me. was dreading it though....
here's what i found:
this is # 7:

# 5 hold down bolt:

#7 pulled up using fingers:

and this is what broke:

could of been hydro-lock from when i was trying to get it cranked the first time. i replaced this HG years ago so i could of left it loose but never heard any noises until this time around when it started after sitting 4 years.
some kudos are in order:
NVW said rocker in this thread so i will have to give it to him. thought there were other ones but couldn't find any.
guess i'll need to figure how to get the broken piece out.

this is minor but i need a new tool now. an ez out with reverse threads and built in drill bit from sears.
weather has turned colder down south and i'm out in the open.
need to toughen up and get to work.
