What else should I do while I have the intake off?

That was my thought. Do away with another need to drop the tank again later. I don't like repeating work if I can help it. My time is VERY limited. Hence the burb still sitting right now...:grumpy:

I would deffinetly replace your factory fuel lines as well as all the o-rings in the ffm. You can route them back in the stock location or leave them outside the engine valley for easier repairs/maintnence down the road. I chose to mount mine up and over the intake manifold. This worked well with the FTB mod and also alowed me to easily add my tap for the fuel press guage.

I also relocated my FFM on "stilts" to make it easier to change filters, find leaks, etc. Im very happy with the results, and with the engine cover back on, everything looks mainly stock.

Id also give the IP harness that is under there a quick check over for pinched or mouse chewed wires.

Your FFM looks about exactly the same as mine did. Remember to take into account that in 257K miles, how many times do you think someone has cleaned the bottom of that filter bowl? Its supposed to be cleaned every time, but you know most people dont do it. I cleaned mine and ever since then I rarely see much sediment or debris when doing filter changes. Id give it a wait before droping the tank, but then again it may give you peace of mind for that new IP.

Drop the tank and be prepaired to order a new one. We have a silver lining on our tanks that once it goes will be rust central. The flakes will also plug filters. Forget about using a tank sock they only piss you off. Use the filter in Walbro lift pump or get a thread on filter - much easier to get to.

Flush your fuel lines as this "mud" is sitting in them and will plug the next filter quickly.

Search my posts for how bad it can get. Looks like bugs in the fuel and you need to get some biocide for diesel.

How tall is the complete filter assembly Leroy? Will it fit beside frame rail in a safe location without hanging down? Any pics of it and the pump installed? Also, is the pump plug and play with OBDII? It won't pull too much current for stock wiring?

Filter sits level with crossmember. A shorter filter can be sourced.
You can use the connector I provide or clip off the stock LP pig tail and soilder it to new LP. They are not to much current draw, but a relay mod is suggested with any LP.
I have pics in a post here I'll see about finding it.

So it is plug and play then. And, I understand that a LP solonoid is needed on OBDI due to power feeding thru OPS but this is not the case on OBDII trucks, correct?

Correct. Off hand I dont remember if there is a relay mod for the OBDII trucks?

Here is a post I found Slim Shady had the first picture of filter set up.

I supply the connector its up to you to soilder or crimp the new pins on. I do this so you can mount the pump anywhere you need to then run the power.

Here's an example Leroy sent me a while back:

Leroy, are you still marketing a mounting bracket? I didn't see it after a quick search of your page.

Raceday has a great set up as well but not sure if he's marketing it or not.

This may be a strange question but is there any reason to try to move the wire loom that lies in the engine valley up higher? I am talking about the loom that carries all the wires along the valley from the firewall forward to the IP.

I took time to look at where to add a filter and lift pump this evening. The best location I can see is a good way aft of the current LP location. I guess I will have to run some long rubber fuel lines to reach.

I would like to, but it seems every truck is alittle different. 4x4 vs 2wd, ECLB,ECSB,CC and Suburban all seem to be just slightly different. If someone just really wants me to make one I will, but I need the measurement between the holes you plan to use and what dia bolt will fit in those holes. Even a picture would be nice. Its very easy to do just look at my post for the "Walbro moounting bracket" I just used a Unistrut system. Its strong and can be removed to another vehicle if getting a replacement

I'd suggest verticle, just cause. Have not heard any negitive reports from horizontal though.
Also, the bowl can be loosened then the fitting orintated were you like then retighten the bowl.
