What else should I do while I have the intake off?

Did the removal of the fitting cause the damage? You were lucky, most times they break off.

No. I noticed the external corrosion before I took it out but it wasn't too difficult. Penetrating lube 1st!
Internal damage looks old.

This may be a strange question but is there any reason to try to move the wire loom that lies in the engine valley up higher? I am talking about the loom that carries all the wires along the valley from the firewall forward to the IP.
i am going to. i will also mount my FFM on the fender. using aluminum tubing instead of rubber the whole route. i will get a prefilter using one of these:
Wix 33441
3 micron
1"-14 thread
Baldwin BF1223 3-Micron,
Wix 33411 3-Micron,
Fleet Guard FS1287 3-Micron,
Donaldson 3-Micron,
Racor R60S (T or P 2-30-Micron). If you choose the Racor, you need the matching clear filter bowl, which can be ordered with or without fuel heater and/or water in fuel sensor.
this is the issue i had and the reason i will be relocating wires:

i will be dropping the tank also.

Finally worked on the beast some this weekend. It's almost together under the hood. About an hour or so left and then it is on to coming up with a plate to mount my filter and new LP underneath. I am looking forward to see how this all turns out. I have installed the rebuilt IP, relocated the OPS (Leroy), raising the FFM(custom), installing Walbro LP (Leroy) and pre LP filter. Oh, and my gauges; Boost, fuel pressure, and trans temp. Will add EGT later. Not doing FTB mod just yet. But raising the FFM will make it easier later. Havn't decided it I'm going to keep the stock FFM yet anyway.

Almost done with IP install with upgrades

Here is what else I have done while installing the rebuilt IP:
1. Installed Leroy's OPS relocator hose.
2. Installed two 12T1E thermostats
3. Replaced quick disconnect heater hose with brass barb and straight hose.
4. Raised FFM and ran new lines above intake.
5. Installed fuel pressure gauge sending unit on plate bolted to unused plastic cover bolt holes.
6. Ran wires and hose for gauges using Leroy's boost bolt.
7. Wired boost, fuel, and trans temp gauges.
8. Mounted and plumbed pre filter and Walbro lift pump right behind cross member.

Still need to wire the pump then I can prime everything and see if she will start!

Looks good. I like the electric sensor for the fuel psi. Tstat looks right, a/c Delco??

Yeah. I thought hard about pulling it out but didn't want go through the extra work to do so. Lifting the FFM is well worth it though. Easier running and peace of mind to be able to check for leaks.

I am going to attempt to finish it up today. I read somewhere about putting 2 stroke oil in the ffm for the first spinning of the IP. Is this recommended? Any other suggestions/directions before I start trying to prime the IP and hard lines. I have already cracked the hard lines at the injectors to help in priming. Anything else?

I just charged them. But I may throw it on there anyway while I button up some stuff.
I have not been able to find clear line. I asked the local parts guys. Where do you get it?

Seems like a good idea. One thing you might do is hook up a 5 gallon can with your premix to the FFM to fill FFM and run it off of that 5 gallons while breaking it all in. If you fill the FFM with 2 stroke oil it might be to much??

I am the one that did and write that up on here. At the time I did not have any Diesel fuel. I had no issues since or then. The pressure at idle is around 12PSI.

Is there a different oil that is recommended? I am going now to get some fuel to help prime the system from the tank forward. I plan to pick up some oil too while out. I think I will mix it in a 5 gal can but pour into FFM to start the priming from both ends. I hope to get it running with it's own fuel system....Fingers crossed.
