What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

I have a neutral light for the transfer case, but I can’t shift the transfer case into neutral. There is no neutral shift button. I think there is a way where you press a couple buttons at the same time, rub your belly and pat your head.
I might have misled You on that last posting I instilled.
It is the transmission that needs to be shifted to neutral.

it's nice that a 2022 model has the same layout as a 2014! plug n play and your off to the races!

Yota's "if it ain't broke, don't fix it or change it's design"
I did need to purchase a plug and play retrofit harness from a third party vendor. Still has one isssue: Salvage goons cut the navigation harness which simply jumps from the navigation box to the head unit box and does not connect to the vehicle harness. A new is on order with Toyota and may arrive tomorrow.

went outside to tend to the 95 truck this morning. I've had the battery tender on it since it hasn't been started in a couple of weeks now. apparently this chineesium battery charger shuts off when they are full and never turns back on until it's power cycled! both batteries were low again. charged them up enough to crank, fired the truck up and left it running for a while. fired up perfect and no smoke out the tail pipe although while looking under the hood I was seeing a small amount of air flowing in the clear return hose. still running perfectly fine, the air dissipated after a couple of moments.

while I was at it I opened the hood of the 93 truck to check the FFM and noticed that now the vent on the top of the cap was wet. pulled the vent screw from another cap I have, put some grease on the seal and popped it in there, primed the filter again and left it to watch for any more leaks.

checked the oil and drained the CKO provent, dumped the 4 or so ounces it collected this week going back n fourth from work. that was about 50 miles of driving since last weekend. re-checked the oil after dumping the collected oil and it's just a hair under the full mark. Looks like me swapping that oil pump drive helped some on the oil loss. still need to address the valve covers at some point.

You see where your issues are, and gotta chase what you see as most important.
4 oz in 50 miles caught by the cko provent with the cko stainless filter is a descent amount. It would double the amount imo with the real filter in the cko housing.

Buy the filter from an authorized Mann & Hummel distributor.
Parts Authority, Car Quest, Advanced are dealers in your area.

Mann-Filter.com has the search feature for all places available. The real filter is crucial for these.

Yeah I'm sure the engine drank that much more oil. it's getting plenty of cylinder lubrication LOL. hopefully i can keep it running and driving a while longer till I run across another decent engine or buildable block to put in it.

I was reading here in the forums from the past looking at some of the happening on the 93, found some posts from back in 2016 where this engine might have eaten a glow plug and where it had bent a couple of pushrods and took out lifters from a broken rocker shaft bolt. this might be some of the reason it has blow by other than when the engine was installed the truck only had about 100k on it and the engine had 140k. the truck has 286k now that puts the engine at about 325k I have never done a compression test on it.

if that 6.2 was worth the effort I would be trying to fix it up and run it. I think there is an issue in the IP (loppy idling) along with the cracked webs, I don't think it will last too long. Even if I did try dropping it in, I don't thing I can swap IP's since the fuel has been turned up on the one in the 93.

Whoa- wait a minute…post the link(s) of known damage/ issues that occurred.
Reading that can clue us into better diagnostics, hints, patches.

I’m like… oh yeah dr., did I forget to mention triple bypass and liver transplant I had done two years ago? Haha. Kinda big info here…

Shortened the harness to the Air Dog pump system, by about three foots. It now is all plumbed, underneath the truck, to My satisfaction. Cross over exhaust pipe with new gaskets and AARP stainless steel bolts and warshers with copious amounts of nickel anti seize.
Bolted the box back down and then stopped for a sammich.
Been on duh couch ever since.
Next is to finish plumbing the fuel system to the FFM and beyond.
After that ? ? ? ? Radiator, fan, belt, shrouds, batteries and cables and top fluids, fire it up. 😹😹😹

@Will L. Here is where it starts. and again on post 65 on this same thread where the rocker issue was found.

Soon as I pull my foot from my mouth, I will suggest adding a link to that truck in sig line noting it’s DeeJaaa ‘s old one.

Knowing the history tends to add more questions than help.
My best suggestion is use this thread for the fun pictures on occasion and do a dedicated thread for diagnostics. Trying to go back and put together pieces on this thread is difficult- at least for my small smooth brain.

I was actually thinking about making a thread to compile all the history I could find on it just for reference to me and others. I see he’s pulled the videos so I will try and see if I can recover them from the wayback machine if it’s there.

Tightening down the bolts holding the PS pump to the head.
One bolt was not going in very well. Tried to back it out, got all wonky and tightened in the threads.
Put the 1/2” impact on it, it come out, but not all right.
A portion of it is twisted off in the head.
I quit for the night, came in and had a pork chop for supper.
Just a little disgusted and disappointed. Seems I just cant get 💩 together.
See what tomorrow brings. Hope I can get that bolt drilled straight and true.

Be patient and remember if you have to hire a younger mobile mechanic it is cheaper than a head swap.

The knowledge of how to win a fight is still in Chuck Norris’ head. His body being able to follow instructions is the issue. Same thing with you and I spinning a wrench- not what we were and lying about it is only to ourselves.

Post pics for input obviously.

In all of My years of twisting wrenches, breaking bolts, drilling and successfully easy outing them, I have never, ever, seen a bolt break off at the tip like this one did.
Left a sort of a ring inside the threads of the hole. Took a sharp punch and tapped it, it moved and broke into pieces. A little more tapping and fishing with the maggot, ooops, magnet on a stick, the broke bitch is out.
Threads are still intact.

I was replying at the same Time You was. 😹😹😹

went outside today to check on the 95 since I had charged up the batteries and drove it around a bit yesterday. this morning the batteries were dead once again!! layed on the charger to get enough juice into them to check for a parasitic drain. discoed both batteries and found nothing draining power. started charging the batteries separately for a while. used my big shop charger this time, it didn't take long till the one on the drinkers side started getting warm to the touch. switch the charger over to the drivers side and then decided to check voltage on the drinkers side battery with my meter. Low n behold it was only showing 8 volts after being on the big charger for about an hour.

found the culprit. sad thing is I had bought both batteries as a pair back in 21. they are diehard gold's. I don't know if I have any warranty left on them, I will need to stop by there next week when they are open. for the meantime I had another semi-good battery I was using to crank the 6.2 engine with, I stuck it into the truck so I can still use it.
