What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

That is nuts. It looks cool, and the fins will help loose a little heat- but if the fins helped that much, it would be stock on all the performance cars by mfr- a little aluminum isn’t that hard to make when they do block and heads from it.
Spend way less, and get way better function.
And several times it’s been explained that more transmission fluid in the pan/ entire system doesn’t help with lower temps. Yes it might take a minute longer to get hot, but then it will take same amount of time to get it to cool off back to normal temperature.

There is tons of options available. This was fast grab online as examples.

I didn’t pay for it. Prior Owner put it on.

Yeah free is fine. And I wouldn’t replace it with a stock one so long as filter is picking up properly with it. But to go buy it new- nopers.

It would be neat to set up a fan for air movement and fill that pan and a stock one to the “full mark” and pour in 200° atf then see how long it takes for them to get to room temperature. The aluminum obviously SHOULD get rid of the heat faster, but it is much thicker and the extra oil that has to cool down. Need a lid on top so airflow wont cool them from the top so as much heat as possible goes out the pans.

Much different prep but mine was 30-35 years ago

Well they could not complete the colonoscopy procedure as I was still full of sh!t, this after being up all night peeing out my ass and only having a small blueberry muffin for breakfast yesterday. They gave me the option of coming back for another in 3 months, or trying to schedule tomorrow. I’m trying for tomorrow.

Good news, they got half way up and saw nothing of concern. Even better news, blood pressure was 112/68, so the diet and all the walking has helped significantly.

Lumnum foil should make a good cover. Old aluminum sign from the scrap yard would work good too. Not a nice one with full reflectivity You understand. 😹😹😹

I have always been concerned about if I didnt get 💩ed out enough and what would happen. I shore would not want to drink more of the kool-aid. 😳😵‍💫😹😹😹

The old prep was to take this laxative before you went to bed and then in the morning they gave you a 1 gallon milk jug with some powder in it, you filled it full of water and mixed it. Then you were supposed to drink the whole thing in an hour IIRC. Slimy nasty stuff, I could only get down about 3/4 of it. If I tried to drink any more I couldn't keep it down.

Well, had a little fun this morning with my truck! it's been raining all night, take off for work and hit a water puddle. water over the windshield and I loose my belt. I had thought I fixed that problem but apparently not. called in to work, did a U turn and babied it home with no PS or hardly any brakes.

that's the second time this happened, this time with more water of course. I need to figure this out, both times the belt flips behind the tensioner pulley but stays on all the others. I made it home (boy that was a chore steering this beast) popped the hood and eyeballed everything. all pulleys seemed to be lined up but I noticed that my alternator must have gotten jerked pretty hard because now its cocked slightly down, wasn't that way after the install.

re-installed the belt and cranked her up. all seems fine, belt is centered on all the flat pulleys. made it in to work now, I plan to stop by AAP on the way home and pick up a new belt but I don't think a new one is going to fix the problem.

Yeah, @Will L., if a person was really stressing their transmission hard (heavy towing, steep grades, environmental factors, drag racing, etc) they're far better off remote mounting something like this (they have many models, capacities to choose from) and plumbing it into the system instead of spending $300 on an aftermarket pan.

There are also those stripped Allen bolt removers that thread down in to remove them:

Powerbuilt 240094 8 Piece Zeon Metric Hex Bit Socket Set - with use for Damaged Fasteners, Standard, Rusted, Rounded Bolts, Size from 3mm to 10mm

View attachment 67801

Probably go that route before using the drill and extractor.

These arrived today. There is at least one bolt that is stripped enough that these will not work. I can get vice grips on it, but from straight on approach only, which means I can generate little torque. I guess I could grind the bolt head off and then grab the remainder from the transmission side when the pan is off.

Are you able to grind a slot in the head and wedge a flat screwdriver in there like those craftsman ones that have the square shank to put a wrench on to help turn?

Well. This bites!! Got home after work. Pulled the belt off checked all the pulleys. Everything seems to be fine. Belts not warped from jumping off. Only the alternator I put on there was slightly cocked down.

decided to pull it off and reinstall my OE alternator back so everything is factory. All straight and pulleys all line up. Installed the belt. Looks good.. cranked her up all seemed fine until I grabbed the garden hose and lightly watered the pulleys. Jumped right off same place. The belt slips off on the backside of the tensioner!! I’m at a loss here.
