Walbro-where to buy?

At the very least, embarass that hack mechanic who didn't clean terminal leads, wired around a moving driveshaft, and didn't cut tails off of zip ties.

If a OEM LP was wired in this hack manor, causing the IP to fail they would have to replace it. I'm sure the Raptor meets and exceeds OEM specs, thus not voiding factory warranty, this combined with the fact that it was installed by the same dealership that installed the IP, should be means for warranty claim.

At this point I will not let them work on the truck again. If the IP goes I will sue them for the cost of the IP. I don't want them touching my truck ever again.

Kenny...you seem to have about the same luck that i do! I find it quite interesting that a so-called "proffesional" shop would do an install like that. You know, the least they could have done was to clean the existing terminal and bolt when they installed it. This is just another example as to why I do all the work on my personal trucks myself. But you would think something such as a LP install would be easy enough for a diesel shop. You know, I always wondered about that place..

And as for the thread hi-jack that was mentioned........no worries, ive enjoyed reading along :)

Yaeh, it started out 6.5 related. Just wanted to clarify that the Raptor IS a good LP and what happended to me could happen to ANY diesel. The truck died again this morning most likely electrical. I had it towed to the dealer and went up one side of them and down the other. I told them don't even call me and say it's the LP, just call me when it's fixed right. this is the part you guys will ENJOY!!. I am fixing the brake line and fuel leak on the new 94 K1500 6.5 TD SO I HAVE SOMETHING TO DRIVE... . I'm putting plates on her tommorow.

I'll leave it to the mods if they want to separate this as a Raptor thread or leave it as it.

I wouldn't know where to start...:mad2::mad2:

There are a few hidden lessons here, folks:

- Mechanical problems are frustrating. Losing your cool makes 'em more frustrating, not less.

- always... ALWAYS check everything before badmouthing a company or a product. It just sucks when the part you've been yelling about turns out to NOT be the issue... sometimes, the problem isn't the problem, if ya know what I mean. Going back to apologize after the fact is admirable AND necessary, but it's always easier if you don't do it in the first place.

- Service is everything. You have to be able to trust the people you take your truck to or buy things from. If you pay less from somebody you can't trust, or who ignores you after the sale, you are a fool looking for a place to happen.

All of which being me to the moral of my story...

DON'T ASSUME. Things may just not be what they seem...

Kenny, thanks for an entertaining read, and thanks to everyone else for participating. There are some real gems in here:

- the Pureflow might just be a great LP for our trucks
- I still like TD's notion of parallel pumps for backup.
- Little things matter: do the damn job right the first time!
- Clean connections are a must on EVERY truck - when you get ANY chance, clean 'em again.
- Tie all your wires and hoses up nice and neat.

- Oh yeah... Pictures are worth a thousand words. Great job on the pics!

I think I'll just leave it at that.

Well like I said, I want to recant and say the Raptor is a damn nice Pump. Yes I have already told my mother to have bail money ready. Lee's Auto Ranch in Ellington CT did this. POS.

Well I'll be...that's sort of good news Kenny...

I just hope the IP was not damaged...

I would have to get Lee's to give me a written guarantee extending the warranty on the lift pump for an additional 12mos or 12000mi ...

I always wondered about that place, too..... according to thier advertizing, they are the diesel experts of the area..... now we know better.

oh the plot thickens. It died on the way to work and they towed it in and are blaming the LP. This is insane. I'm feelin postal. I should called some pizzons from College Point blvd and sent that truck bye bye.
By the Jim, thanks for the trip to the woodshed...:D

well they told me to pickup the truck and never come back. I think it was two problems giving same symptoms. The low voltage/amps due to faulty wiring and the LP is sucking air most likely due to poor connection at tank by Lee's Auto Ranch. The best is the a hole tell me the LP is definitley dead. I put 10 ft of hose on the suction side and dropped it into my transfer tank in the bed I drove it until the fuel tank on the Dodge was just about full(remember fuel returning to dodge from Transfer tank). The only thing I can't figure out is I jumped the relay for the Lift pump and got bbeter more steady psi than when I let the trucks ecm control the Relay for the LP. I have no idea. I'm drop the tank and hopefully find the leak and then trade the truck in on something else for whatever beating I take on it. I'm sure I'll lose about 4-5k but I won't stick someone else with this lemon.

take deep breaths Kenny...no need to take a loss on the truck when I'm sure the fix will be simple...have you PM'd Cumminalong about this?

you owned a 6.5 for how long? and you can't patiently think this one through?

Come on man...I have more faith in you than that!...You probably felt the same way as you do working on your 6.5's problems for the first time before you got knowledgeable help...

relax,

Pepp

That's just it Pepp, I'm outta ideas. Yes I shot a PM to Rich. It's pretty much everyones opinion to start over pull the whole system off and reinstall but I need to drop the tank cause I can't see what they did to the fitting and I suspect the problem is there.

I just want to add about Pureflow tech and Raptor/Airdog that Toby thier tech guru has been working with me every step of the way, gave me his cell # and email and has answered my questions even over the weekend. The POS service manager at Lee's Auto Ranch actually had the balls to call him and tell him his LP's are junk and he souldn't be helping me telling me what's wrong. for those interested in the drama, I think I finally got the truck right. Time will tell if there is IP damage or not and I will probably end up eating it. Lesson learned is don't ignore the small stuff or the obvious. The truck had three issues giving the same symptom and all caused by a horrible install by Lee's Auto Ranch. This stuff basically aplies to any diesel so the causes were,
Bad battery connections cause low volts/amps. That consequently caused teh relay to overheat and it's burned and working intermittently and the fuel line was sucking air at the tank as the moron didn't connect it all the way on. I most likey will have IP damage.
