The Stealth BOMB'r is under the knife

Okay, so here was this afternoon's work.

Got the bed pulled, cut the spare tire winch out, got the the measurements for all the pieces to make the battery brackets and got the upper brackets that will get welded to the frame done.

Called it quits at this point. Time to get some dinner.

These are upside down from how they'll actually sit. I was measuring for the front and rear pieces.

Man the only bad thing is, wont that suck if you ever have to jump the truck, or jump someone with ur truck??? That could be a potental pain in the butt,or a very very funny joke......When do you know you have passed the "street legal" mark?? I know your pushing the practical streetability(hehe I know that bad boy dont get 20mpg anymore!!) and cant do a 3000mile road trip? Can it??????

I have a quick disconnect on the back of the truck for the winch. I have a set of jumper cables that are specifically made for that that connector.

I haven't popped the hood to jump someone in a long time. I just back up and plug in the connector.

It's still fully streetable, and yeah, it still gets 20+ on the highway. It'll more than likely get BETTER mileage after this build.

Before I tore it down, I averaged 16 - 18 in day to day driving. On the highway, unloaded, cruising at 70 - 72 MPH, I normally saw 20 - 21.5.

I'd take it on any trip, any time.

Everything I do to this truck is multi-purpose. 1 - It MUST to do everything that you would normally do with a truck, 2 - It MUST be reliable, 3 - It MUST be more than capable of laying the smack down on whatever the hell pulls up to it at a stop light.

WOW!!!!!!!! thats KILLER fuel mileage!!!!! well good for a truck id say....i was happy when I saw 21 on the highway!! man if u cant take anything at a stop light its cause u couldnt hold them tires....U got any videos of this truck dragging??

This has to go down as one of my favorite threads ever...I'm lovin' seeing the progress and fixing things as you go. It's looking great! :tiphat

Thanks guys, it's getting there.

I just wish I had the head and pistons back so I could get the damn motor back together.

The longer this thing sits apart, the more stupid ideas I get to do this and that.

Like this......

If there is something specific you want to see, just let me know and we'll see what we can do.

Rich, you did a great job cleaning up the engine compartment. Night and day difference.

I absolutely despise seeing wiring.

Nothing makes an engine bay look more cluttered and messy.........

Well, except for stuffing a PowerStroke in there.

):h

Looking real good i just finished up my cummins swap. and i must say i think cummins is the best dam motor out there it dont take much to build them up and get power out of them. i figure i got 400hp or so i cant image what 700+ feels like i get a rush just drivin mine. What kinda boost you makin? i have hit 40psi with mine. i don't know what the cummins is safe for?

Okay, after a full morning down the drain from being hungover like 3 MoFo's, I got my battery brackets done and into the truck.

Still need to pull them back out, clean them up, paint everything and weld the top brackets to the frame, but they're complete and solid as all hell.

Mine is wastegated at 72 psi.

On a stock motor, without head studs or valve springs, 48 psi is about the most you can push before you start lifting the head and floating the valves.

Void what!! haha theirs no "power adders" on your truck!!! so right before ur warranty "runs out" the motor will be "junk" and need replaced right??? hehe that would be FUNNY!!!! Man wish your shop was closer....Id like a non dealer place around me that could do good work....

Okay, modified the battery brackets today.

Clearanced around the top and side posts to give some more room for the wiring and got the top brackets cleaned up, welded in and painted.
