Well, I was putting the monitor back together into the console bezel today.
Unfortunately, my hand slipped and I ended up poking a tool through one of the ribbon cables.
Ugh.
Well I could repair the ribbon cable easily enough, but i was already looking for an excuse for a better monitor.
My monitor is an EBY701 built by Lilliput, circa 2005. It's a dependable little thing and has survived 3 custom installs, but it's a bit scratched up now, and the 800x600 mode crapped out a while ago leaving me having to struggle in finding a video card that will actually display it's native 800x480.
Now the nice thing is, Lilliput still makes the EBY701 but it's been upgraded several times.
LED backlight vs CFL, improved touch screen, Auto power on, auto rear cam switching, higher quality panel, etc....
So I pulled the trigger on a new one for 160 bucks.
A little pricey, but worth it for a decent 7 inch touchscreen that will drop right into the bezel I've already built into my console.
Problem is now that I've got the new monitor ordered, I find myself cruising the web for a mini-itx board to build another carputer for the truck.
The purchase also means I have to push off buying my gauges for fuel pressure and trans temp a couple months.
Oy vey, it just never stops!
I've got a disease....
