setup for 26,000gcvw on a 6.5

got the 2886 clutch and dmax fan,(moves ALOT more air at idle tell tale is miny dust clouds from then dirt lot while backin up) install flowmaster cross over pipe also heat wrapped the pipe down pipe is next. air filter changed. got then fittings and hose pressue guage for FTB mod.. can this be done with out removing the intake?

took it for a test haul/tow. my 75k20 roughly 6000lb and my brothers load max 20+5 gn ~4500lb. tottal of 10-11k trailer weight ran nicely...
get to sort out electrical problems.. mainly with the rear lights and wireing harnes and brake control harness replaces then batteries today as well. found out then diff is leaking at then pinion seal too:nonod:

DOT has been chewing 1 ton hot shot rigs up and spitting them out around here, so I would be really careful about my setup. The 2 biggest things they seem to find are no safety chains, and overweight on the rear axle. The tire ratings seem to be a sticking point ( overweight for the tires rated capacity). You have a CDL A so you are good to go there. As far as truck parts I think you are doing your homework. I would suggest trying to use fuel pumps and filters that you can find anywhere, and carry a spare PMD and fuel pump. Bet you already have a spare fuel filter:). Those kind of things can be scarce in Middle of Nowhere Midwest America.

Good Luck!

They are popular with them here too. Just about have to keep a standing order for a new windshield if you drive US 169. :mad5:

If I were you, I would buy my International and go.
the 4700 trucks i did look at..
the problem is those weigh almost double of what the 3500 HD weighs, borther has a dump version its 15k with the bed... maybe 12k with out thats double of then 3500hd. and ~4k more then a heavy ass ford dually... means less weight i can carry with a 26,000 gcvw cap.. right now im looking at being able to carry 14-15,000lb of cargo.. other words im haulling less weight around just because..

Just curious, whats 26,000 gcvw got to do with it? You still have to have a cdl A because of the combo vehicle.

fuel tax, (ifta) road use taxes only apply to over 26001lb plus tags insurance maintenance costs go up as well and eat away profit margins
less weight means less fuel gets used thats 50% min of operating costs

That answers my question, Thanks!

An all- aluminum trailer would be nice.........

There's a major price difference in Illinois. That's why I parked the International. See what Blago got for raising truck plates? A net loss when all of the trucks headed out of state and people like me shut their trucks down. But I sure was happy to see him go to jail.

That's why all the utilities in Il went to federal plates. You see 'em, they say FP on them. The state loses all of that from all the electric companies and gas suppliers. Idiots!

but not the cost of one... it might save 1000-1500lb over steel but at
min 50% price increase? the one im getting is 26+4' with pop up dove taill. 8k axles with 17.5 rims and tires bigger brakes as well over7k.. weight will be between4.5-5k empty

With the increased fuel prices deriving from GREED "hot shot" runs will soon be a thing of the past too... So sad that the world revolves around American greed

:skep: You know he did this so his buddies would not have to make so many license plates! And it now applies to him...

how much heavier is the dovetail over a straight tail with slideout ramps?

idk i guess ~100lb difference i went with my setup to give me the most flexibility in setup from 30' flat deck to dove tail with fold up ramps.. with the mindset that the more flexible i am the more i can say yes to different loads

got PMD relocation mounted
prodigy P2 mounted, electric on the back half of the truck wired correctly.. but have 1.5v drop at the back end... ie 14v at bats and 12.6 at the tail lights.... havent figured that out... all frame grounds are good plus the new one with 10ga wire that is connect directly to the bat... on all other vehicles voltage drop is less then .5v at the back of the truck...
fenders mocked up drilled
to do list
exhaust to finish up
add support to the GN plate and weld on D rings
install fenders
wire acc switch for trailer
windshield washer tank fix.
FTB mod
paint the frame.
raceday mechanic bat wire upgrades will be here saturday along with bat relocation box
buy/install lights on fenders (3 4" whole for lights on the back)
