Rebuild Time

Back when I was going to paint mine, I was split between DD green, and red. I ended up going with red because I already had a gallon in stock, but I've always liked DD green.

Yes, yes Matt, we know, red is the best engine color EVER.....we get it already! ha ha ha :D:D:p

To me any color is better than black.

When I was younger I thought it was cool to paint my engines black....luckily I grew up. Well, sorta.

You did not dare to just flip the gears over on your old pump..did ye ;)

Tupid smilies!.. yuk
I had another look at it, the housing was badly worn, and the gears were gouged on both sides. A simple flow test showed an early pump flowed as well as that worn later pump. After going this far I wasn't going to cheap out.

Could be, at least I'll know where the oil leak is coming from.

Actually it will only show you where the oil ended up. And if the oil leak is that bad the 'locked up'/'blown' engine usually has to come out anyway...

They look nice, but, so does black and better yet the factory black stays black no matter how much soot or oil gets spilled/weeps/leaks on it.

So add "polish the engine" to the weekly oil level check.

Jeeez, misery loves company.:D

What shade of red is that? J/K looks better now.

Also did you borrow my valve cover install tip? by cutting heads of bolts off to aid alignment. I have a $.50 per use royalty on that method
