Project 141 Build

It looks like you turned the Upper intake back to stock position when you put the engine in? Or am I just seeing things?

Where did you get the v band clamp for the turbo to tubing adapter?

Did you get anything special done tranny wise?

Hope you get it running right and have some good results to share.

yup i had it turned around when i put the engine in. I was tracking down a leak on the fule filter and couldent get to it the other way so i flipped it around for some room to work. The vband clamp came with the turbo when i bought it. I had the tranny rebuilt last year and yes i had it beefed right up the torqe convereter alone was $800 then the aloto cltuches shift kit and a few other things they did to it had it workin real well for a couple months then the fluid went brown and started shifting funny. Then while i was at work the head gasket went and the truck sat for a few months. Not wanting my warrente to run out with an improperly built tranny i hauled it there and got them to pull it out and replace the clutches. In the mean time i brought the truck back and slowly rebuilt the engine before i get them to put the new tranny back in since its so easy for me to pull it out and put it back in not having to do all the dirty work bellousing, torqe bolts, t-case, ect.

The stupid auto salvage here wont get off their lazy butts and get me the v band and pieces of intake I need. They also want 800 for an intercooler (which is the reason I am going to try non innercooled).

My 95 needs the tranny rebuilt and a new oversized TCC valve (45-55mph shudder if the tcc lock up isnt on). What are the options for HD Diesel torque converters? I know D-Max vans run a 4l80 and I was wondering if they are different than the 6.5 TC's.

You can order all the parts to build your own intercooler for about $350, maybe less.

PM me where to order this from! I figured there was a cheaper way to do things and not use dodge parts that might or might not fit.

Looks cool, I just dont know where I would stick 7 inches of radtiator and fan.

Now back to the build. PM me with any suggestions (or find my holset thread, I am still working on my 4in DP and a few other issues)

I just got the truck back from
The tranny shop last night. Probley won't get to work on it this evening got called to
Go into work today then gonna go get another trailer load of fire wood after that. Should be able to do sum runs tomorrow though.

I finnaly got it on the road, Im having problems with doing a TDC relearn. I went to do it last night and it started the procedure then the truck died so I fired it back up and I'm stuck with code 88 TDC relearn error and it won't go
Away! It's stuck at -2.02 I'm taking it to the injection shop right after work to get the bugs worked out.

Great looking engine. Love the Cat Yellow.

Whats the "Project 141" all about ?? I see a 506 on the block ?????

The code 88 just means that your IP is located a tad too far outside the stepper motors ability to adjust the timing.

Try marking the IP so you can see where your at, then moving it a tiny bit and try the TDC learn again.

You can likely get it back in order readily.

Missy

Thanks for the comment Missy, I tryed moving the injection pump to each side of the line last night. Still no luck getting a re learn. The block is most defiantly a 141 with squirters. What photo did you see 506 stamped on it?

The DTC088 and stalling is likely due to the IP being messed up or the Crank Position Sensor installed backwards. Check the warm idle fuel rate, if its below 5mm3 thats the issue, and either the OS is too bumped, or maybe the spill chamber valve to the transfer pump inlet is letting too much pressure pass. That is the little allen screw valve in the lower inlet fitting, accessable by taking off the upper IP inlet fitting which has the 1/4" hose barb.

If the warm idle fuel rate is above 5mm3, it should be 7-10mm3, then its likely the Crank Sensor is messed up or backwards.

i see it in post 12 on the back driverside of the block...

Got the timing figured out. Turns out it was far to advanced to do the relearn like you guys said. It's set at -1.94 right now. This engine sure sounds different then my other one. Has alot more of a rattle to it. I don't have any info on the WOT yet since I olny have about 200 km on the engine I'm gonna break it in for a few hundred more km. And there is 141 stamped in big numbers in the trans-passenger back side of the engine. I have pics of it also. I don't know why they would stamp 2 different castings on one block.

we have a block that is marked in the valley "141", and on the back of the block "506".... with no piston squirters.... and it is a crack free block...

That's interesting about your block. Mine was crack free when I had it Magna fluxed that's why I used it over my other 506 block I had..... I did my first cold start this morning it smoked white and chuged like a bastard. I'm
Hoping The glow plugs are just weak since I put used ones in I did check each one before I put it in with an ohm Meter. Truck has lots of power when it's warmed up to operating temp I will post some videos shortly. Seems like I
Have more boost on the lower rpm range

did you work all the air out of the lines yet? mine smoked bad until i was able to get it on the road and clear the air.
