New project 94 C3500 350

With 4.56 gears and 32" tires at 80mph I should only be turning 3k so that shouldn't be running me out of steam.

I can easily run 10mph in 1st so pretty sure it's just 4.10's

Took it to get a new section welded in to the exhaust. Maybe it won't be so damn loud to test drive.

Today it had a top speed of 68mph according to the dash. Did plugs wires and checked all of the plugs this AM and checked voltage at the fuel pump.

Does it still have a cat in the exhaust? The old tbi's were doggy, but something don't sound right with this one.

One thing I have read about is there has been issues with some of the P30 style master cylinders not fully releasing the brakes, and I believe the 3500HD with 4 wheel discs used the larger P30 master cylinder. They only offerred the 3500HD with a 350 for a short time because it simply wasn't enough power, but it should have enough to push it empty.

Also, just filled it up to full from sputtering to E. Looks like it was only optioned with a 25 gal tank.

Also driving at below 30* without heat is for the birds!

More thoughts.... it does still sputter some at higher RPM after driving all day. After the major improvement from fixing the injector wiring harness I am wondering if there still isn't another bad spot there or if the injectors are getting starved for fuel at higher RPM.

So, is there a way to check fuel psi while driving? Where do I hook up the gauge and will my 6.5 Kent Moore gauge work?

In 2nd, 3rd, and 4th it feels almost like a pmd failing or fuel sock is plugged. Cuts out until I let off then if I ease back in it will pull decent until I push too hard again

iirc There is an adapter that goes inplace of the fuel filter. It has a fitting on the side where you connect the hose to your pressure gauge. Run the gauge inside the window and test drive.

The problems just keep coming for this little truck. Decided since it's coolant history was unknown and winter is approaching I decided to drain and flush the coolant and refill with fresh 50/50.

Well let's just say I am flushing mud... but on a brighter note my idle RPM has came up to 750 RPM!

So either this thing has a bad head gasket or intake gasket or when it previously failed the guy never flushed it. MAYBE the radiator failed. Guess a leak down test is on the to do list. Anyone know if o rippy's loans out a leak down fitting?

Idk about the leakdown test tool, but if your ect is off that will mess with the "choke offset" or whatever the right term is. Coolant temp is the main info for that.

On that subject of flushing- who makes the best one? I'm doing mine this week. I want some nuke level stuff.

I'm just using the garden hose at this point to get the sludge out and 10 gal of distilled water for the final flush and refill. After I get the sludge out I'm going to check for water in my oil and then take a drive to see if it loses oil or the water/coolant turns to sludge again.

I have a new ac delco 195 tstat and temp sensor to put in. Hasn't warmed up past about 160 since I got it

Ok, so I hooked up a radiator tester and it holds 20 psi for over an hour. So I'm going to say no intake gasket leak and probably good on the head gaskets.

Now my compression test was a little sad... Came out with 125 plus or minus 5. I was just spinning the starter and pulling one plug at a time.
