Funny you mention that....

There's a military surplus depot located in Hooks, TX. (That's about 2 hrs east of Dallas on I-30.) During the last part of February, there was a 6.5 motor in the metal shipping container that was being auctioned off on the government liquidation site. Condition was listed as A-1. That means new, never used. This was a fully dressed, center turbo motor built in 2003. It had the heavy duty hydraulic fan clutch setup, the IH diamonds and a VERY different intake manifold feeding off the turbo. ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!

Final bid price - $675 :eek: :eek: :eek:

I'll tell ya this - we're there's one, there's gotta be another! I'm gonna keep watching! Imagine - for under $1000 having a complete heavy duty drop-in replacement power plant!

Do yourself a HUGE favor and get some front mudflaps on there. They work wonders.

I found some nice aluminum diamond plate ones last year for 20 bux

He has bed liner on the rockers, he doesn't need mud flaps.

My 95 z71 had mud flaps when I got it and they just held salt and corroded the paint behind them. Northern trucks :nonod:

We're up at Mom's house right now. I drove the truck and headed out around lunchtime Friday. Marty and Katie took the Taurus and left about three hours later. I'll be heading back Monday morning, so I'll get a chance to clean it up and get a few more pics this coming week. It really is a hoot to drive. Man, I've missed that truck!!

Here's the wish list for the next few months:
  • DMax fan and fan clutch mod
  • K47 airbox
  • Power Trax locker and 3.73 gears
That'll keep me going for the rest of the year. Over Christmas Break, I want to start working on a replacement 4L80E.
 
Time to update your Avatar pic! I'd still get mudflaps bedliner or not. You'll end up spitting rocks all over your dually fenders.

Yup. I'll be home Monday nite, so I'll get to work on that this week! I want to figure out a way to stack the pics on top of each other - sort of a Before & After thing.
