New clothes for Ma Deuce

OK Rob, here ya go! This is turning out to be pretty amazing!

WOW! I am VERY impressed. Those kids have done a fantastic job on your truck! You must be quite thankful. It looks simply spectacular. You'll have the best looking truck in the Lone Star state, that's for sure.

Thanks for sharing!

-Rob :)

I was looking at the pictures and just realized - I'll get it back just in time to get it tagged and inspected! ):h

The right front fender has been compounded and polished. It was used as a training example of how to finish the job. One of the guys in the class told me that the fenders were shot using a different hardener, since they're fiberglass, not steel. They were set out in the sun to cure. (The longer this stuff sits in the sun, the harder it gets.) They went out to look at it later and he said, "When the sunlight hits it, the color just kinda 'explodes' :)eek: ). It's really bright."

They're compounding it this week, then they'll go back and spray Rhino Liner on the lower panels. If you look back at the pics, you can see the primer still showing. I'm supposed to bring two fresh batteries, since the ones on the truck aren't taking a charge anymore. I've also got to finish polishing the aluminum bed rails that go back on. If I can get home early enuff today, I'll get all that done. I'd like to get the stuff to them tomorrow, because pushing that big beast around the shop ain't fun. :nonod:

I stopped by yesterday afternoon to drop off the fresh batteries and a few other odds n ends. The guys had shot the Rhino Liner and were buffing on the finish. Wow! Does it look SERIOUSLY cool! I was never any good at looking at a color chip and trying to visualize an entire vehicle painted that color. So I didn't really know what to expect for using bedliner to coat the lower body. Gotta tell ya, it looks really good. Not super shiny and gaudy, just sort of a low luster and very cool.

Naturally, the camera was sitting back on my desk. :mad2:

Can't wait to see finished results. I rhino-lined up 4" or so on both my door panels. Looks really good, covered some rust, and holds up like a champ, even to a new england plow winter.

We've seen Prestine 6.5's, IN a decent body.....

Now we have a Prestine 6.5 Body (Fatback!!!!) ! Motor's in Decent shape....

Hmm.... Dave... I think you should driver her up to MN, and driver her home with a Fresh Alpine Green Engine from Barry!

Dave, I have been following this thread for a while, and looking at all of your pics. I have to say as everyone else has, you got a really sharp looking truck!! Those kids have done a great job on it! Congrats to you.

That's mighty reassuring to hear. I wasn't real sure what to expect. Having seen the finished product, I can tell you it looks better than I anticipated. Really glad to hear that it'll work as good as it looks!

HOw about this for durability - I coated up the and around the bottom of the door, and the inside the cab lower area where the door closes onto the cab. There is definite contact/vibration marks from contact.

The liner hasn't even worn out where contact meets, not to mention be back on bare metal to bare metal as it was originally. Amazing. Been almost a year since the 2 coats were applied.
