Sounds like a hoot!! My V Max topped out at 145....that sure felt fast without a fairing. I never took it to the strip, but I should have. The stock tire on the rear sucked, it would just spin. I swapped it out to something else, but I can’t remember what now. After the tire swap it would finally pull the front wheel. In fact that bike would pull the wheel AND spin the tire at the same time. Pretty badass for what it was.

I had to work at it a bit to get the front up, riding position had alot of weight on the front

So I watched a YouTube video on cleaning vinyl and his answer was Mr clean pads and water. So I decided to try it. I'm pretty impressed with what it has done. This is after less than 5 minutes. Tried to show in the pictures where I cleaned and where I didn't.

Well it's all back together. Still waiting on the tank to dry. There's not supposed to be any solvent smell when it's dry, everytime I turn on my hairdryer after it's been sitting for awhile the initial smell is quite strong. Dissipates pretty quickly though

That's a really good lookin' bike. How many gallons is that tank?

It's listed as 6.2 but when i put vinegar in it it took 6.5. It's a big tank lol

I don't think it would fit in a standard range oven.

I wondered if it was as big as it looked. My Triumph crotch rocket was 6.6 gallons and looked huge like that. Man, you're making me wish I had my bikes back!

So the issues I have to deal with are mainly cosmetic. The top of the side vent got softened by the fuel leak, both the side vent and the decal are unobtainium. I'm going to be checking with a 3D printer to see how much to print a new one. Also have a friend looking at making me a decal. I'm hoping to touch up the fuel tank paint and then maybe put a clear coat on it. Still trying to get the frame paint color to touch that up to. Also need to get the black engine color too.

So I got turned onto a guy on facebook in Italy who is making reproduction side covers for 100 euros plus shipping. I messaged him about shipping and am waiting his response

I also found out prices of these bikes can be much higher in other countries. 12-13k range

So I have had my hairdryer going most of the day, I used my infared heat gun and tank temp is about 145*. Hair dryer is still going I"ll probably turn it off before I go to bed. Hopefully that's enough

Well crap even running the hair dryer most of the day yesterday it still was pretty stinky.

So I decided to go for it and put fuel in it anyway. If I need to later on I can dissolve it out with acetone and give it another go.
Took it out for a really short spin, not licensed yet. The upper body part of the riding position seemed familiar but the leg position was more cramped than I remember

That’s sweet!! Sounds different than I was expecting - leave it to Honda to make a smooth running V4. Must have 4 separate crank pins. My V Max had shared crank pins so it had the thump-thump, thump-thump idle which I really loved. That’s cool you got to take it for a spin!! Jealous....

Alot of the sound is the gear driven cams. Sounds quite a bit better under load.

I remember taking a couple rides on those, and a vmax.
Recently rode an old 600 ninja again too.

The thing that felt most different to me I figured out was my fat belly and old bones. haha
