Ak, good luck with that glowshift gauge. I don't think there is any way to dim those gauges. Mine never could be dimmed.

A few years ago I got five glowshift gauges because they were inexpensive enough that I could afford five. I now have only one left that works. Of the five, two were mechanical, and the rest were electronic. In the first couple years I was down to the two mechanicals left working, boost and EGT.

This last fall when I finally got the motor back in and running the EGT was doing the same as the first three, the needle was swinging wildly from end to end of the gauge. The boost gauge is all that is still working. Definitely not impressed with them.

I hear you Don the only reason I got this one was that it kinda matched the rest and was actually designed for IATs

I believe so but I think the lighting would be on bright all the time then.

But then you might be able to dim it with dash lights? Maybe not if Chris won't.

the instructions specifically say not to use a dimmer on that wire as it will cause the light to flicker

Just an idea .... One of my gauges had a colored rubber that went over a clear bulb. Wonder if you can get to the LED and "tint" it some how. Piece of pantyhose maybe to dim the LED ????

I checked gauge won't come apart easily. Bezel is crimped to the case

Got my mirrors bolted in and the power adjustment figured out and hooked in. Still need to finish the led and heat wiring. Got the wires run from the mirror to the dash and now I'm getting ready to roll the dash.

Fuel and iat, right? Good place, don't need to see all the time driving, but when you think about it, only a glance away.

Didn't get much done today got the pillar mounted and the temp sensor mounted and the wires ran. Spent the rest of the day chasing parts.

So I managed to get some pigtails off some power mirrors and got them spliced in. Got the doors reassembled. Ran the passenger side mirror wire thru a loom in the dash over to the drivers side. I'm going to try and wire the led light in the mirror as both turn and marker. David (88 GMC truck) has been helping with a wiring diagram. Many thanks to him for his help and also his threads where he shows all the amazing mods he does.

So i Igot the mirror temp working. David told me he thought the mirror wiring had a connection right above the column behind the speedo, sure enough! If a guy was careful he could probably remove it without rolling the dash. There's enough length you could pull it down pretty much to the floor. My truck had all the wires necessary from the mirror to the plug but nothing for the sensor. Turns out the old and new mirror use the same electrical terminals so I was able to come up with the correct female terminals left over from my mirror install.

Checked out the blend doors while I was in there. There in good shape. Pulled off the hard to get to actuator and made sure it didn't have a cracked gear. It was fine, pretty sure the control head is my heater issue. Looks like I'm ready to roll the dash back in place.

Got the dash pretty much back together. Now I'll be starting on the rest of the wiring.

Pretty much got all the misc wiring done, still have to wire the LEDs in the mirror and power/ground for the EGT and Pyro. After that I'm down to hooking up the sending units. Trying to make this as clean of an install as I can.

Got the interior pretty much done,I ordered a temp control head and I still need to deal with my trailer brakes. I also got the LEDs in my mirrors done, they are both turn and marker, once again i need to thank David he gave me a wiring diagram for that. I would have never figured it out. Built a bracket for the relays I will be installing in the future.

So I got the pyro hooked up and it think the drive pressure done as well. I didn't have an easy way to check for leaks, the brass fittings leave a lil to be desired, about the time i think they might be tight enough they strip. I guess time will tell if I see soot. I put everything else temporarily out of the way so I can drive it tomorrow. I will work on everything else a little at a time. This was kind of a marathon wiring event that alot of it needed to be done all at once.
