My new to me 6.5 L TD motorhome

I just got this carfax report from my local car dealer. I'm not sure if I'm as excited as I was. The guy claimed he has owned it for 2 years and that he bought from his parents in CO. :skep:

It's 1999 P-30 chassis

Probably a repo that was sold at auction, like buddy said it's a tough economy right now, and this guy bought it to flip it and make a buck, and isn't going to tell you that.

Thankfully you're an informed prospective buyer and now have more bargaining power.

I would like to see his jaw drop if you informed him that you know he purchased it from an aution and caught him in a lie.

If you do please snap a pic and post it here , I would love to see his facial expression when bagged and tagged in that lie.

UH,UH OH,,UH, wwweelllll ,uh, uh hhmmm, uh,,, etc.

You must have the wrong carfax,uh uh hhmm. LOL

Glad the truth came out, I googled the MH vin number he posted here & without the carfax it was pretty apparent this rig has been for sale for quite some time.

Nice looking rig though. My concern with any auction rig, like with my recent Tahoe, is that these auction vehicles normally pass through a number of garages were the back yard mechanics all have a chance to wave their magic wand & voila!

Then there we are trying to trouble shoot & undo the magic...it's taking a while with my Tahoe, but I think most all of the voila has been removed undone. Still not 100% done but it's getting there.

I also googled it and saw that, even the one in spanish. I emailed him the carfax info that I had and he wants me to call him. Probably to put the hard sell on without a written record.

I'm still interested in it, but as much and I have confidence that we can make it go, especially if I have Husker65 travel out with me. Unless there is something major wrong. I have plenty of new spare common parts that I had planned to take with. Well, now I'll have to wait to see what his plan is?

Looking at the dates, locations, mileage, and title changes I would hazard to guess the following: It started out in life as a fleet rental motorhome, like for Travel America or one of those similar motorhome rental companies. Look how many miles were put on the first year. Miled out it was sold locally. That owner had it three years and put less miles on it than the first year in service. It was sold to someone in CA who had it four years and sold it in CA again in '09. Six months later it ended up in auction, either voluntarily or not. Bought out of auction and registered in CO, then title transferred two months later to... your dealer. Yeah, used car dealers like that make it hard on the legit ones.

It's still the exact same motorhome it was 10 posts ago, before this CarFax.

The guy is a lyer is all.

If it checks out and you want it, get it!

It looks like it has been cosmetically cared for, which in most cases means it was at least maintained. If everything checks out and looks legit, and you want it, then get it.

Let us know how it goes!

Just make sure you bring a spare known working PMD ready to be mounted (heatsink, extension, resistor) when you pick it up.

I've seen 26' class A's. We had a 34' and for what we did then I wouldn't want anything bigger than that. More power is nice but the 34 footer barely fit a lot of places we took it.

Don't worry, Jody. I have a good PMD mounted to a sink w/#9 resistor sitting here to take with us if you don't have one.

You sound extremely prepared.

I would throw in some sort of spring that you can quickly fasten to the wastegate if its not boosting. CDR may have never been replaced, so if you have one, or just things needed to make it vent to air and plug the intake.

Make sure to test the LP is actually pumping enough pressure to overcome demand at idle, if not make sure there is a parts store nearby and tools to swap it, or pressurized air to blow out snotty tank sock.

The OPS should not be necessary on a 99 truck if it is OBD2 the OPS is merely a backup parallel power source, and the LP relay will run it regardless if the OPS is functioning. If its still OBD1 or mechanical then its good to have.

Beef (or deer!) jerky, Jody? Call me, you've got my number in your other social site message in box and in your email in box.

Yup that $2 dollar screen door spring that can be purchased at any hardware store is a nice little extra to have in yr emergency 6.5 tool kit...don't ask me how I know :agreed:

Some extra fuses are also good to have with ya.

I forgot to mention that I do have an extra LP in my inventory and plan on picking up a CDR and an OPS, just to have. You never know when you might need one of those. I'm thinking of getting an actual TM instead of just a spring, because, without a boost guage there maybe some unkowns. Although the PCM would let me know if the boost was too high. I also picked up some PS additive, white, silver and red bottles.

A couple other spare parts in my inventory that I won't be taking with are: and set of brand new heads that I bought for my 2500. They are the ones that I should have replaced sooner than later because now I also have a brand new Penninsular 18:1 engine on an engine stand waiting to go into the 2500. :mad2:

Well, we can take the pair of brand new complete heads still in the box, along with a gasket kit and new head bolts I have here, with us Jody!
