MOBIL DELVAC, MOBIL 1 truck diesel, and VALVOLINE premium blue $12.99

I scored 9 gallons of Mobile 1 Turbo Diesel Synthetic from Wally's no questions asked, cleaned them out. Funny how it was AutoZone's sale and they really sucked to deal with (at least for me) compared to walking in and walking out with the goods at Walmart.

Thats the plan going to wally world with it, seems like they have a bunch close to home.

Not sure if this counts as a highjack but its an oil related question. When I change the oil on the duramax, why is it sooooo much blacker and dirtier than the oil on my wifes car? I always assumed it was soot, but I really dont understand how it gets in there.... We can move this question if there is a better place

It gets black because it's the burned diesel fuel getting past the compression rings and mixing with the engine oil. The more the rings are worn in an older engine the quicker and the dirtier the engine oil will get because more of the carbon from the diesel fuel is getting into the oil.

War wagon can chime in here- I'm sure he will tell you as soon as he went to gapless rings his oil stayed cleaner much longer- that's because less fuel that's burned can get to the engine oil. Different diesel engines are going to have looser and tighter piston to ring and ring to sidewall clearances, so some engines will keep the oil cleaner than others.

If you run your truck on kerosene fuel instead of diesel you'll notice it's not as dark because they're less carbon molecules in kerosene then diesel. And of course for less carbon in gasoline so that oil stays much cleaner.
The cleanest of everything is propane which is why Leroy is so happy with his oil, very short carbon chain in propane.

If that didn't cover what you are asking, let me know I can explain more.

I assume you need a print ad for price match, or did you tell them to match the AZ price?

Yeppers. I went in with my phone, and they said NO! They require a printed ad. All the checkers are set up for price match so long as you have the printed ad in hand.

Rob :)

nope and I don't plan on it either. FWIW I don't think she's as pretty as she and everyone else thinks she is. Her folks were pretty down to earth but she's become a lil more "important"

Yeah

She's ok until she opens her mouth.

Anyway...

How about that Mobil 1? Now all we need is a sale on WIX filters!

Word in the marketplace is that since Sam died, WalyWorld had taken a turn for the financial dark side of squeezing every last penny out of each deal, so wanting a physical piece of paper as to why some money was given away surely would help fend-off negative comments on a performance review. . .

But, back to topic of scoring some lube . . . I went online Friday during lunchtime, ordered 12 gallons of Valvoline for pickup at the local store (listed price was $17.99, but at checkout a credit brought it down to $12.99), on the way home stopped by to pick it up, and the guys were apparently so happy to have something to do they loaded it in the trunk for me :)

I went to Walmart and picked up 5 gallons. They were very polite, but they were quite doubtful that it was real. I had a copy of the ad as well as a receipt from Autozone for 1 gallon, that convinced them it was legit.

Rob :)
