:raincloud: Yes, those old oil cooler lines that are seeping will drip and any other marginal oil drops will for sure leak with synthetic. This is the only downside to 'synthetic'.
 
So I final made it into town and went to autozone. they don't stock the mobil 1. I pointed out that the ad stated it was for sale and asked if they could bring it in. they hemmed and hawed and gave me several excuses and finally asked me what I expected. I told them I expected the ad to be honored (I think I pissed the manager off). So he said he'd have to make a phone call, after about 15 minutes he came back and asked me how many I wanted. My response was how many can I have? which he didn't like either. So I said 10 and they are bringing it in. It's $14.99 here normally $29.99. Stopped at oriellys on my way home and they are price matching on the Valvoline but the mobil 1 is only on sale for $29.99 ($4 off).

We tested thousands of engines going from conventional to synthetic oil. Approximately 50% of them started to leak oil. Some were very slight, some bad enough that we need to go in and replace gaskets. It's worth swapping over just be aware the need to watch for leaks to start. Absolutely change your oil cooler hoses before you do.
 
I went to one store near me today. They did not have any, but referred me to another store that had 6. I immediately went to that store. They had none. Referred me to another store that had 3. They had none. Go figure. But they did say the sale price was good! ;)
 
I went to another store and bought 3. The salesman was completely shocked when the sale price popped up on the screen. I asked if he could get more, he called around to a few other stores and I have 6 more coming on Friday. :) I wasn't a dick, but just courteous and polite and asked. One can catch more bees with honey than with vinegar! ;)

9 gallons should last me for 3 oil changes. Not bad. Thanks for the heads up Ferman! :thumbsup:
 
Just to be clear all I was was insistant that they honor they're ad, and I wasn't going to take a brush off which was what I was getting.

Thats the plan going to wally world with it, seems like they have a bunch close to home.

Not sure if this counts as a highjack but its an oil related question. When I change the oil on the duramax, why is it sooooo much blacker and dirtier than the oil on my wifes car? I always assumed it was soot, but I really dont understand how it gets in there.... We can move this question if there is a better place
 
Nah, it still gets really black. Just the nature of it. I have never seen it stay clean on either the LLY or LBZ. Nobody else I know of either.
