well, Bill Heath Obviously doesn't want me to sell the Tahoe because he got the WMI to me in record time. I guess I'm going to have to install it now .....and probably be happy with the truck...

5k for the pair of em?? Nothing like an insult.

Not sure what we're going to do next spring/summer without your multitude of threads regarding pulling some camper which must be loaded with gold.

Well the plot thickens. I got the guy with the 2002 Dodge with 67k miles down to 18,500$ Come on talk me outta it before I sign the book of the month club....I got a bite on the 2000 already for 5k$

Kenny, if you sell your 6.5 to buy a Dodge, I'll drive down there and whoop your arse...

LOL. Just kidding, but you were looking for somebody to talk you out of it!:D:D

I know I know. But my issue is I have two vehichles that both have 173k miles on them. I like to travel, I have two heavy duty trucks to maintain and a quad cab would do both and outside of the 53 block the Cummins is a damn good engine. Heck alot of 6.5s swap them in when the 6.5 dies. The upside is if I buy it I got the Heath WMI kits brand new in the box I'll be blowing out at a discount. I love my trucks but the time and money is getting to be too much. They are older high mileage trucks.

Don't feel guilty Kenny, it so happens I found my 95 on a Dodge lot :D looking for a cummins. The price was right

Leo

173K is nothing for a 6.5, many of Bill's customers come to him with 200+K when they start building for power, if that Cummins didn't come in a Dodge wrapper; back in the day I was all Mopar, but than was when Mopar was into muscle gasser building, Dodge trucks as a truck never did anything for me.

Hmm. Kenny sounds like he needs some encouragement.

I have two 'older, high-mileage' trucks. Yes, the Tahoe has been more troublesome because of the items that have worn out and needed replacing. However, NOTHING on them was high-dollar. The amount I pay for repairs is truly small compared to anything I would buy that is newer, unless its still under warranty.

I plan on keeping the 6.5s for a good long time, God willing. I am consistently amazed by people who have 350-400K on their original engines, having replaced only those items which tend to wear, like the injectors, the GPs and the IP. All are do-able by a shade-tree mechanic. You have a massive support system right here, which should be factored into any decision you make.

On the last family outing last weekend, we went over 600 miles, with zero problems, great comfort, lots of power, and got 17-18 MPG on the burb, fully loaded with 7 people and lots of luggage. We also went on the beach and rode around a bunch.

Hang in there, take a deep breath, and make a decision that makes sense. We're all pulling for ya.

Thanks Rob, but I bought the Dodge. It's really just a matter of practicality. I love the 6.5s I had and they treated me well but the reality of it is that by owning two of them both with similar mileage, basically what happens to one will probably happen to the other one soon and I don't have the time or money to maintain two trucks. Need to downsize.. And I'm not saying by anymeans that I feel the 6.5s are not reliable, but just that the two I currently own are high mileage and just not practical for what I need. I can't tow the camper with the GMC cause it's a standard cab so wife, kid, dog, just don't fit well on a 3-400 mile trip. The Tahoe "can" pull the camper but it's really too much for it. So really what I have needed but couldn't accept is a crew/xrta cab pick to do the job of both. Now my issue at that point is I would sell both anyway and to try and find a 6.5 equipped truck with 67k miles on it comparable to that Dodge.. not gonna be easy. I mean that Dodge is one bad ass truck. Do I like everything about it ? No but it just seems to , for now, fit my needs. No regrets now or ever about my 6.5s. They have served me well, are both in good order and will serve thier new owners well. If I came across another real low mileage Burb and could convince wifey to sell the Honda, that is still on the table. No prejudice at all on 6.5s and I will still be around here sharing and discussin what I know. I still work on them for other people. I'm one of the few in my area that can and have had people approach me so my knowledge will not go to waste and all my freinds are here. I know we have seen members sell their 6.5s and then basically dissapear but I was here from the ground up on this site and will always be here where my freinds are. Might try to boost the Dodge section a little and get it more active hopefully.

I'm glad to hear you will stay with us...:smile5:

I enjoy having the conversations I've had with you...glad there will be more.

Congrats, Kenny!

I do think that those Cummins engines are just awesome. I'd love to get one as well, but I'm quite happy with the 2 6.5s.

All the best,

Rob :)

Thanx for the chide. Here's where to do this, of course. I was always a Dodge man. First Dodge truck was a '65 5 ton, "pentastar" heads 318, not the same as the '70s 318, IIRC.

CONGRATS on the new driver. :sifone: Hope it was built on a Wednesday... remember monday and friday builts always seemed to have more problems:cheers2:
American metal is best! Still trying to sell the Toy:mad2:
