I got pop ups. I dont want pop ups...

Oops...sorry...back again.

It sounds like you still have some nasties lurking.
How far did you get with going through the cleaning process?

You need to run Spybot (which you did), then CCleaner (update first, then run to clean registry), then SuperAntiSpyware (update first, then run).
After that run CCleaner once again.

Not know for sure what to do this time, I started a scan with super anti virus and it has so far found about 20 trojan things, a browser hijack mjcore, an unclassified unknown origin.., some trucking cookies, a rugue compant trace... AND MORE!!! ah!!!

Just keep it going...keep cleaning until everyone is happy. It may take a few trips around the block, but hopefully you can get it without having to resort to something else. Yes...there is STILL something else...but we hopefully won't be going there.

A scan normally takes 25mins, Im over an hour in and still scanning.... 130 some threats found....

The SuperAntiSpyware is a program I haven't worked with much, but I do recall you needing to turn off system restore, and then rebooting after it's done and then turn on system restore again. I'm going through it myself as we speak to bring myself up to date.

Hey, Justin... you got gremlins again?

Post back here and let us know how things went with the clean-up ... but be prepared to do some more work before we're done - Antivirus360 is a nasty bug!

Good job, Ozzie!

All you other guys need to think about YOUR spyware defense strategy... and Mac and Linux aren't immune, either, it's just that the majority of people are running windows, ergo that's what the majority of bugs are written for.

Multiple defense layers, keeping updated, using a NAT firewall, and weekly system scans will keep everything running for ya!

justin, that antivirus deal sounds like what mom and dad have on their computer. i'm going to work on their computer this weekend, i'll let you know what i come up with for a solution.

Sorry Jim, I somehow missed your post... I have ran all my scan cleaners... All seems good again.... so far...

Superantispyware will take care of that bug, Justin, but you may have to shut down your system restore first, then do a full scan, then re-enable system restore.

In fact, I would do that process anyway, if I were you. This critter hides in the system restore records as well as masquerading as some legitimate Windows system files.

You remember how to do that (from last time?) If not, post back here and I'll walk you through it again.

Jim

I think I can find in it this thread, Ill let you know if not
And thank you guys!

Hey - you're welcome Justin!

...one of these days we're gonna teach you how to nuke that system for a fresh start...LOL

...and don't ANYONE use Internet Explorer...this is probably how you got it, whether you used it or your someone else. Take that little icon for it and delete it. Only use Firefox.

Shes got her favorites saved on there  I got in trouble for setting fire fox as the main internet

Tell her she should save her favourites on Del.icio.us, PortaPortal, or MyBookmarks.com, and then she can get at them from any computer, anywhere...

They're easy to export, easy to manage, and you can get her off of IE.

justin, if you import all the favorites into firefox, they'll all still be there just like they are in internet explorer... just safer.

its easy clicking....

Did weekly scan, any other these things something to worry about? It took me a LONG time to do the screen shot :D

Cool. You DID let the program quarantine and manage those items, right?

FakeAlert is not cool - Ozzie put out a warning on it the other day - it tricks you into doing stupid things

Vundo variants are nasty.
Both trojan droppers are not good.

Let the program clean things up for you.

I can run for weeks on end with no alarms going off, and my machine is set up to be pretty aware. I also surf all over the place.

Your machine somehow gets more crap than mine does.

PM Sent.
