glow plug for 6.2/ 6.5

I can only find a part number for one type. Can't find listing for two types...
But I'm not the greatest at internet searches.

I just wouldnt let a $20 bill stand between the the advantages of a great starter and a mediocre one. Close your eyes and pretend the difference is just the price of the starter.

Whats the price of your dd starter being rebuilt compared to a rebuilt gr starter and bracket. That $ savings is the difference, minus of coarse the starter life span.

A lot of hummer/ hmmwv guys use the the big dd starter because of the marine option being water proof for river crossing. What i and others have learned is the trapped carbon wears out the starter way faster anyways. So using the small starter when it has just been dunked shortens the life, but over all its still better. The trail i broke my powermaster on, another h1 hit his dd on, his starter was ok, but cracked his block like what happens when the starter bracket isnt there. I brazed it up and he continued the run, but was his excuse for an optimizer. Thats ok, he's loaded.

PM War Wagon, he uses a gear reduction starter IIRC.

I'll have a look at the one I just removed from my project, I think it said gear reduction on it and the bracket was std.

Is there a part number stamped on the old bracket? That would answer the question. Far as I can tell other than the gear reduction difference the only other difference is the nose cone gear opening size between Manual Trans and Auto trans starters. I think the Auto works on both and most starters like the Powermaster work on both.

I do hate the heavy direct drive design as it wasn't very reliable for me. The gear reduction can take some abuse, but, I have busted the reduction gears and ruined an overrun clutch due to hard start problems. See the carnage thread for a couple starters there...

Update on my starting issue, I replaced the starter with a reman GR unit from Autozone and she fired right up! The DD bracket could be made to work easily enough by cutting it shorter and drilling a new hole for the stud on the starter but I'm going to order the correct one.

Whatever you do, don't run it without the bracket. The weight of the starter can and has been known to crack the mounting pad off the block basically ruining the block.

X2! I'm panicking for you right now.

When you get the new one, can you post a pic of the two side by side for the next guy looking for this solution? And my own curiosity of course...

I got a set from them . Did not have 60G on it . Seem to work OK but time will tell .

I bought mine from another source before RA was a vendor here. They came in a 60G box but had a new label stuck on the box. They are G5's, I hope they are self regulating.

Got a set recently at work , came from a Delco dealer . 60G on the box but not on the plugs .
