Dead 1998 K1500

not yet.

We finished late yesterday evening (I can do that after day job only), and ended discovering the pump has to be completely retarded, late in the evening.

We will contiue tonight. I have to phone the owner to talk about this cranckshaft key...

Now I'm confused... :confused::confused:

I succeed in convincing the owner to part out the front of the engine and check the camshaft key.
He did that and just phoned me to say all the keys are fine, cranckshaft and camshaft ones.

The only thing he noticed was a little "play" in the camshaft gear. He swapped it with another and now it's OK.

So, if I have to retard the IP so much to have it running "not so bad", should that mean the IP itself is culprit, even though it is a fresh rebuilt from Dipaco ?

What would be useful is a screenshot of the timing at idle. And try running it with CPS unplugged, then OS unplugged and screenshots with each of those. Having to retard the IP as much as possible doesnt make any sense unless there is an electronics issue. Did you update the TDCO when moving the IP?
