DaHoooooley Lives again

I used some nasty stuff to reseal the window.
The leak was coming it turned out from the RH corner cap seam where the cab is put together.

Just did a reseal on the seam and all fine.

Tore the back trim off as well as the rear corner panel trim.
Got the water up on the corner seam and it would trickle down inside the sheetmetal and onto the floor.

Tried duct tape first over the seam and the leak stopped :D

Then dried it good and seam sealed that area with some nasty clear goop.

Stunk bad but sticks to anything. Ask me how I know this.

Sits trying to get it off her fingers. :nono:

I just hate water leaks, rig soon gets moldy inside and smells bad.

This truck was it seemed a non smoker and was nice inside.

Lexol was the name of that stuff.

Comes in a calk tube. Clear goop in a clear tube.

I have used "Marine Goop" with excellent results. It sticks tenaciously, is highly UV resistant, and when cured it is flexible, waterproof, and very sturdy.

Usually can find at hardware stores. For some reason the big box home improvement places don't carry it anymore. I buy my at Ace.

I love the stuff. I have fixed everything from leaking windshields and vacuum cleaners with cracked housings, to my hip waders. Excellent results every time. It does tend to dry out, so I tend to put the opened tube (with cap on) inside a 'FoodSaver' vacuum bag and vacuum the air out of the bag when storing the unused portion. Works really well.

-Rob :)

P.S. The web says:

More good news

Yoday a little care package showed up from a nice young fellow that contained a lovely Glow plug harness with all ceramic ends on the wires.

Oh Yeah buddy.

Not sure what this harness came off of but its never been run, only installed me thinks.

Definately a 6.5 TD glow harness though.

The LH side is just about like all 6.5 glow harnesses except that it has the ceramic ends over the spade connector.

The RH side has the #2-4-6 wires with the extra little plug on High temp pigtails and the ceramic ends.
The #8 wire is as stock exccept has the ceramic ends.

My ends are a tad hinky. Gonna swap the plug on connectors out for the fresh ones and then use the ceramic ends and about 4 inches of the wires and butt splice onto my harness.

I would love to replace the entire harness but at this junture it would be a PITA to dif all the glow plug wires out of the main harness.

My wires are fine, its just the plugs that need a little help is all.

This will assure that there are no issues with glows not working in the wet weather.

Yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

Holy sticky stuff, Batman!
I actually have a 1/2 tube of the Lexol in my "house" toolbox. Used it to "repair" a cracked window in the back bedroom. There is a 1/2 - 3/4 inch hole in the middle, and cracks rdiating out to the edges of the frame. Temp fix has lasted, but I remember it was messy. Basically caulked the cracks in and outside with it, works great. Window looks like a big spider web. Lexol seems to take forever to cure, IIRC. Maybe it's the cold and humidity during the last winter repair.
Thanks for reminding me, forgot I had it.

Hijack over.:gnorsi:

As usual, you're da Best!

My use of lexol has been extremely limited.
I did not want anything that was "BLACK" so I gave that stuff a try.

Stopped the leak at the rear cab corner seam just great.

The rear window was likely not the culprit but it got sealed anyway.

Sliding rear windows are cool but they are a source of water leaks if the drain holes in the tracks get full of crud.

IT may be messy, but if I bet 'Denatured Alcohol' avalable for cheap at HD or any hardware store, would break it down and allow you to work it into a super clean job. It's what you use on 100% silicone to do finish quality caulk work on Epoxy/Labratory grade countertops.

Denatured Alcohol breaks down any water-resistant substance I've tried it on, breaks it down a little to work clean with it, but doesn't mix as to effect the cure, just allows the surface to become workable without making a holy mess out of everything that is touched, including the job itself.

Just wet a rag and your finger with it when you're working it. It will come out smooth as glass with no excess where you don't want it.

That 95 Dually at $2500 is a steal. Must be a fly in the ointment somwhere.

Dave

I do outside work, but the distance is a bunch it would seem.

I've got family in Wa and Or, it would make an excellent excuse to go camp out with them. Good help is so hard to find. Afterwards, I could go visit Bison for a shakedown cruise.
Nothing pending, just if in case...;)

Thanx but I can only stand so much beautiful countryside now. Tried the coast to coast trucking, got into 46 of the main US 48. Too long away from home. Only my Uncle could keep me away for too long. Uncle Sam, that is. are you near Elmendorf or Eielson? What kind of glue do you stick the heaters on with? PM me.
OOPS, this is Missy's thread, and a damn good one at that.
Sorry, Missy. You deserve better.

Ya,come over:thumbsup:.Have a peek in the promised land. Here they dont put the country on fire every other day like CA.:eek:No rattlers either

Better air here too:smile5:

Good hunting too:D

Don't forget the greta fishing. All the way up from Northern Ca to AK, there's fish just begging to get out of the water.
Missy, a convoy to the northern hinterlands? Ratman, Missy, heck; there's probably at least a hundred other rattlers from here to there. Dahooley could get broken in right. And you'd be surrounded by supportive tools if it sneezed.

OMG what a hoot that would be.

"We got us a CONVOY" Breaker One--Nine this here is the rubber duck C'Mon

"Hey there pigpen, you wanna back off with that six five, the smoke is beginning to close up my sinuses" :D

Yup I am definately a trucker. ):h

Ahhh well such fancied adventures are not in the cards right now, at least for me.
Trucking has been slow this summer and here it is almost fall and the winter doldrums are not far away.

DaHoooley's untimely failure this spring cost me plenty, and took up all my spare time to get it back together.

Just gonna have to pass on the 'Road Trip" folks.

But if anyone is passing through this way, they are always welcome at my camp fire.
