Actual, honest, real world MPG from your 6.5

18-20 all summer long with the 95, full of tools and 100 gallons of farm diesel. kept under 60, but two 7 percent or better grades to go through on the way to the field. a NV4500 that sounds like hell is a good motivator for the egg between foot and pedal driving style, aka very light footed. a/c was on most of the time as well.

Still very happy with performance on this tank.

Just cracked 600kms and still a hair above 1/2 tank on the gauge.

Before the recent round of "tweaks" I'd be lucky to break 550kms on a whole tank.

Keep going big ol' girl.

Keep going.

Let's break that 800 km wall, even with running those 4:10's!

:)

On my last tank (first full tank since I replaced longblock and added majority of mods) I got 18.2 MPG.

My rig is twice the size and displacement of the engine in my Pathfinder, but gets better mileage.

Did not read every post, its to late for that. Anyway who has posted the highest MPG # so far?
I got 19.5 last weekend. Hoping to bump that up to 30 with the new engine swap.

I would think that entirely possible Leroy.

I've seen a couple 4bt builds in 2wd short box pickups and burbs claiming 30-32 mpg (if true).

I believe you 4 banger is even smaller and a bit more modern, which carries with it the promise of better mpg than a 4bt...

I am hovering right around you in the 19's. Havent broken the 20 MPG mark yet tho, i cant get a good solid all highway drive to happen. Every drive i take has some sort of hilly country road stop and go style.

Real quick, don't want to take this off topic. The Isuzu 4BD1, 4BD2 are also a 3.9 like the 4BT. The 1 is direct injection and the 2 is indirect.

ok, just tanked up the 91 6.2L EGR still hooked up, running 60-65 mph, all highway, got 18.79 mpg with 268 miles ( of 600 something miles total) on that tank hooked to a car trailer. hauled sisters car to hays KS, and a flatbed for the 95 GMC back, so light, but still something to buck a bit of wind.

tank was filled to the brim, so it was surely full.

Well... 500 miles on a tank is pretty much *it*... Me and my '93 RCLB SRW 4X4 one ton... Just a tick over 16 MPG. I'm neither impressed nor appalled. :hihi: But I'll take it. The old beast will tug just about anything. The changeover to synthetic engine oil netted exactly NOTHING. But I didn't expect it to make a real difference.

what kind of synthetic? with 7 quarts in the sump of a nearly 400 ci turbo diesel, the synthetic will net you peace of mind about protection at the very least. synthetic ranks high on my to do list, but "fix oil leaks" is allways one step higher. :)
