'95 Engine build

I was thinking of the single doors that go in front of or behind the rear wheels.

I kind of like this. I wonder what would have to be changed to keep my side rail boxes and ladder rack

Or if a guy could find someone to custom make one

I would love to have this setup on my truck! it would be an undertaking trying to cut the bed skin then fab up some braces to make it all ridged
 
With the suggestion from @ak diesel driver I was able to find a later model coolant overflow tank. It seemed this lower corner was in need of some heat shielding, so I used some of the leftovers from my firewall to cover the lower corner. It looked like something had been there from the factory as well but my original didn't appear to have any remnants.

I routed the hose along the inner fender and then under the battery tray to get to the radiator. I'm not sure I'm happy about it but it seems to work for the time being and is better than the original setup with the hose held with twine.
 
The bracket to mount the lower part of the air box is about 1" off from the original holes in the inner fender so after welding up the part due to part of it being deteriorated, I ended up not using it. Unwelded version shown below. I'm unsure of the part number but it looks like it contains "...68287". I fooled with it for quite a while but could not get the bracket to work which is why I am pretty sure I gave up and sold the original K47 setup I had purchased several years back.

It also put pressure on the A/C line off the dryer and I wasn't a fan. Consequently, the connector from the inner fender to the box was also about 1" off so I didn't use it either. I may get back to it and give it another try at some point but for now, it's going to have to suffice as is.
 
I wrapped the adapter with 1" material from the same company where I got the blanket, Thermal Zero. That was a pretty big hassle to do in place but I got it done. I did end up soaking it and squeezing the water out to make it easier but that doesn't mean it was "easy". Probably just less "dusty". It helps to have 3 hands, but there's really not room for a third in that area. Having someone to hand me a screwdriver to cinch the clamp was about the most of what I could use.

I cut two strips about 12-15 ft. long and wrapped from the bottom, up. I clamped the first strip in place when I got to the end, then started from the top, down to do the second. 3 ties altogether.

Thanks to @n8in8or I just used the same part number he had shown in one of his threads for the blanket. Now, I don't have a concern about melting my hood. :happy:
 
I was given a couple sample bottles by the owners of Hot Shot Secrets this past July and wanted to be sure i gave it a try. He gave me two sample bottles at our county fair.

Second full tank driving "normal" since being out of engine break-in period. First full tank with Hot Shot.

13.5 mpg driving like I stole it during break-in period. Just 2 stroke oil in fuel.

14.25 mpg driving like I normally drive after break-in. Just 2 stroke oil in fuel.

I see this as still part of my build thread since I am still monitoring results. MPG is a little better than the old engine. Power is up, from what I can tell because feel. Still nice strong pull at 65 mph when I get into the throttle.
 
Yeah, I always fill to the top of the neck. I get some strange looks filling up as when the pump kicks off, I will start gently rocking/bouncing my vehicle to "burp" the tank, squeeze some more in to bring it back up to the top of the neck, then repeat until the fuel level doesn't go back down. I can always get another 1-3 gallons into any vehicle this way after the pump nozzle automatically pops off at "full". The only exception I found was back in 2015 with a rented 2015 Ford Focus. Went to fill it up and discovered 1) NO fuel cap, just a spring-loaded flap in the end of the fill pipe you stick the nozzle through and 2) You can't "top off" as part way up the fill pipe there's a vent/overflow valve of some sort and if you try to top off, the fuel instead runs out of that overflow valve and onto the ground!
 
That's a good way to mess up the evaporative system. Gets raw fuel into places it should only have vapor
Most fuel systems have a check valve in the evap vent line to the tank to prevent such backflow from topping off. My '05 Camry does, which is why I can put 19.3 gallons of fuel into an "18.2" gallon tank when I happen to be bone dry empty (two needle widths below the E mark) and running over to the station a mile from my house. Which is why that 2015 Focus surprised me when it started peeing gas onto the ground from somewhere behind the fender as I tried to top it up after the nozzle kicked off.
