88GMCtruck's 99 6.5L Towpig slow build.

A bandsaw with about 4 or 6 TPI should work good, easier than trying to cut with a jig saw, my opinion. Just go slow so the chips will clear the cut. You may end up ruining the blade, but it should be do-able. One caveat, I have never used a band saw on aluminum before, always a table saw.

Now why didn't I think of that? A chop saw used to be one of the tools that gave me my bread and butter for many years.

Looking at the pic of the heat sink and the tire I'd say the sink is around 8" wide. A standard size chop saw would have to double cut to make that cut. A slide miter would be wide enough for a single cut, but with the potential for kick back. If you use a chop saw make sure the sink is held down very securely so it won't be kicked around, clamped if possible. I have done precision 45* cuts for aluminum framed, glass cabinet doors. Even the narrow aluminum for this can be viciously slapped around by the chop saw if you don't pay attention.

I think it sounds great. Nice rumble at idle and while accelerating, and still quiet at cruise. I can actually hear my turbo now too. Sounds like an old bigblock gas motor to me, with a hint of turbo whistle. I'm one of those people who doesn't own quiet things........

88 has dual 2.5" 40 series Flowmaster
99 has 3" straight pipe
02 has dual 2.5" Magnafow
04 bike has a shortened Yosh pipe.
 
You have NO idea.

I'm sure the neighbors who live above me must love hearing the 88 running for 5=10 mins at 6am, or the 99 running at high idle....

So, here is what you've been waiting for... Before and after video of the exhaust. I would like to point out two things:

1: The neighbor's truck was next to me in the first video, so it echoed a little bit differently
2: I don't think the video does it justice, the sound is totally different. New exhaust is much deeper and you can really hear the turbo now.

Definitely hard to hear the difference, but there is a difference.

Lots of goodies!!! I didn't know Tahoe's of that gen had power hatches, mine had the barn doors...
