88GMCtruck's 99 6.5L Towpig slow build.

Well that sucks all around. Don't hesitate to give me a call if you need a truck that can do some heavy towing. I can certainly head your way if I'm around.

Nope. To top things off, my passlock is acting up AGAIN. Not a stranded, but I've had to do the 10-min wait twice today. I think you and I will be in contact about that de-passlocked PCM you have.

Sure, but I'm in the camper for a week right now.

Couldn't stand looking at it sitting in the driveway any longer!

;)

Yup, the "10 min pause" is usually a sign of things to come......:rolleyes5:

Edit: forgot to mention, I don't have a spare PCM any longer. A friend of mine needed one since his left him dead on the side of the road.

He got a <cough, cough> "livelier" one than he expected since I had an experimental tune on it.

After ripping the tires a couple times, he says won't give it back. But promised to find me another "stock" one to hack on.........;)

Well, let me know when your back, I'd like to take you up on that. Enjoy your trip, I sure know I enjoy mine when I'm out and about.

And as far as the passlock, i've already bypassed the ignition with a resistor as well, so who knows why it's acting up.

So the inspector made a complaint to the sheriff?..........How'd the Sheriff know what happened?

I had a very aggressive dog (Roger) to strangers and other dogs, I got him as a pup, (rescued from the the animal shelter upstate) but he was abused and I knew what I was getting myself into (kind of)....Point is I worked with him and kept a very close eye on him, he died at the age of 13.

Sometimes it was a BIG inconvenience just knowing he'd pounce if a stranger or dog approached, but I was too attached to him to let him go......Shortcomings or not, he gave my family, friends and me that Love, only a dog could.

Sorry to hear about your problem(s).....Good luck whichever way you decide.

I think since he went to the hospital, someone (either he or the rental company itself) had to notify the sheriff I guess.

I've thought it over and I may still end up keeping him, I'm not sure. I've had him since 10weeks old and he's always been treated well, and is actually pretty well behaved aside from being quite energetic. He used to be aggressive to other dogs however I've worked with him and now he gets along with just about any dog. One of his best dog friends is a 80lb intact german shepherd. He also does fine with the roommates 6mo husky pup, and my friends 11yo mut, and 1yo malamute/husky mix, and my parents beagle and jack russell. He's always been protective of the house and alerted me of people coming up, apparently it has now become more than that.

It's a tough decision. There are lots of small kids in my town (some of which do not have manners and will come up to the fence when the dogs outside, or ride their bikes in my driveway, etc. Where are their parents at anyway!?) I have younger cousins and my best friends have a newborn. It's just the thing that if he decided to bite a child, I just couldn't bear the idea of it nor want to deal with the aftermath. He's always been a super loyal companion to me. II spent a lot of time training him to mind well, so this actually was shocking.

dogs have bad days just like people evidently something about that guy pissed him off. not sure how old he is now but it was more than likely a freak thing. if i where you i would keep him and watch him very closely, but i become so attached to my dogs that unless they where sick i couldnt put them down for any thing, im not going to shoot you for blowing a fuse and punching a guy for no reason. just my 2 cents

Well I don't want to put him down by any means. I'm looking into alternative and I'm waiting for the paperwork to come with the final say on him.

In either case, the state isn't making me put him down. He is by state law a "dangerous dog" which in WA carries a lot of baggage with it. I have to register him as one (which basically screws me from renting 99% of houses), carry $250,000 liability insurance for the dog, and he has to be kenneled at all times, unless he is muzzled and on a lead I am holding. I also have to post signs on my property warning of a dangerous dog. There are a few more specifics I can't remember right now, but it's a lot of things that are difficult.

I'm hoping to adopt him out of state if possible, or to a local no kill shelter that specializes in "dangers dogs". They basically have this shelter where the dogs live out their lives with other dogs. It's not the most ideal thing but it's better than other alternatives. Fact of it is, depending on what the papers say I need to do (from the Sheriff) I will be largely basing my decision on that.

Alright, here is the latest. For those of you just tuning in, check my last update....

Anyway, been dealing with the dog and talking to shelters, lawyers, sheriff etc. Been a PITA.

Then, the truck started acting up again, been having passlock problems the past few days. It's giving me the theft fault, flashing "security" 10 mins till i can start it. Since the ignition is already resistor bypassed it means the truck is loosing the resistance of the resistor I soldiered in, which in my mind tells me it's having a connection issue. So I unhooked the batteries, reseated all the associated connectors involved with the passlock system, and found where that circuit is grounded....

Turns out, the ground for the passlock is a large ground bolted to the back of the block (there are two ground studs in this area). Upon inspection of the area, I found there were indeed two ground studs, however all 4 wires were on 1 of them instead of 2, and everything was nice and dirty. One of the studs is actually holding on a coolant blockoff plate.... Upon closer inspection, I see coolant sitting there next to it.

Jackpot! I think I found my passlock problem and coolant loss problem, all in 1 felt swoop. So, remove all the grounds, clean, etc. Scrape the blockoff plate and head surface, and re-install with a new gasket and a thin film of ultragrey. Reinstall all the bolts and grounds in the proper locations. I then unbolted and cleaned the frame grounding strap and battery grounding cable to the block.

Throw more coolant in the tank, and turn the key... Wait to start... Security light goes out. Woot! I've have 3 successful restarts with no passlock problems! Time will tell if the coolant loss was fixed, lets hope so!

Good to hear you got the truck started in the right direction again!

IIRC all hospitals must report animal bites to the authorities, its a law, no one was meaning to cause you problems just the way things work.

any new on the dog?
glad to hear you got the problem figured out my dually seemed to be having the same passlock problems so i will make sure and clean and relocate those ground when i put the new motor in.

Yeah, hoping an opening in one of the sanctuaries opens up soon so he can live his life out there, since he was deemed a dangerous dog. Otherwise i'm going to have to put him down.

And yes, make sure the ground is good. I haven't had a problem since.

could you try and find a person out of state that could adopt him? seems that if they relicinsed him with a different name and owner they would never know

From what you're saying, I would never put a dog down for that reason, or let someone tell me I had to. I do hope you can find a better resolution.
