68 C10 Chevy 6.5T

Thanks everyone for the compliments. Leroy it is idling high I have not done the timing learn yet so the ect sensor is unplugged causing the high idle. I was going to learn it but then started to have starter problems again. I don't understand why I am having such a hard time with the starter. I got under again after it slipped and held the pinion gear out and it hardly touches the flywheel. I have the correct bolts and the rear starter bracket is on and tight. The flywheel is new and so is the starter.

Seems like I remember a thread about a similar issue and it had the wrong flywheel on it. IIRC it was from a gasser

No gas flywheel on this engine. I have solved the starter problem for good. I investigated why it was slipping and found it was only engage on the very end of the teeth. I have the rear starter support and right bolts but still only touches the ends of the teeth. I had a buddy mill 1/8" of the mounting pad and bolted it up. It sounds like a stater now. It is quite and smooth, never skips a beat and doesn't sound like it is full of rocks. For anyone else that might have this problem have the mounting pad cut down. I do not recommend taking a grinder to it as you might not get it flat and cause more problems.

I did a little snooping in your thread, but may have missed it......just to be curious, what brand starter are you running?

Well I had a little problem with it so far I kept getting the code 35. When engine was running the PMD wires were hot and it shut down when they were moved. I got a new PMD so I know it was good the extension harness is one of the ones you buy for remote mounting the PMD. My fix was I ran 18ga high current wires from the fuel solenoid to the PMD. I shortened the command and feed back wires for the ECM and ran a 18ga power wire on its own fuse for the pmd. I do not have any codes now and it is a lot for responsive. If you have a remote harness check and see if its hot.

Update. The turbo decided to leak oil into the intake and exhaust. I overhauled the turbo and decided to ceramic coat the turbine and the heat shield to keep the heat out of the center section. I also made the battery tray. The battery is going under the right side of the bed. I will be using one group 78 900cca battery. I have tested this setup and have not had a problem even on the coldest day. Here are some pics the battery in the pics is not the one I will be using. I am using a side post battery to make it easy to remove the terminals.

Why is there no room? The cold air intake is where the old battery was. Can not mount it on the other side because the oil cooler is there.
