Found a very clean CUCV with a replacement 6.5 Goodwrench Motor in it. Truck only has 65k so motor can't have much. It's been converted to 12v already and is very clean body wise. Trans felt like had a shift kit. ONly issue was front end shook like a dog sh^tting razorblades. IIRC Dana 60's had issues with the bearing style ball joints. Or could just be a bad tire or Steering stabilizer. I can get the truck for 3700$. I gotta tell you it was alittle more than I was looking to spend but looking at the spotless almost new 6.5 under the hood thinking how easy it would be to put a Turbo on since it will have the oil port for the turbo I want to buy it. Plus it's a 6.5 not a 6.2 so I can stay in this section....
What say you guys ??

Fire departments tend to have excellent equipment generally, because they have lots of spare time between calls. Another 6.5 in the stable can't be all bad, prolly only needs an alignment, ball joints, and tie rod ends. It's a mechanical IP?

You know what, I would never pay that price for a CUCV but with a brand new 6.5 in it , well that's an $8k motor. Plus finding one that year with no rust is not so easy. it only does 50 mph with 235s on it but with a nice set of 33s or 35s that should give me a little more HWy. Down the line would like to find a way to put a 4l80e in it wih a controller. If I get it.

Yeah then sounds good to me, those trucks go for $2500 or so lately with the old 6.2 in them so you are close enough considering the motor that one has.

Those Dana 60s are King pin style. Check u-joints, wheel bearings...etc. I've also seen those steel wheels bend before.

Sounds pretty cherry. If you can swing it, it would be very cool. Great for a 'get outta town' vehicle, If you know what I mean.

I have never seen a Banks setup for a 6.2 but since this rig has no A/C it looks like a 6.5 turbo/manifolds would fit right on. Forgot to look underneath but crossover should work. If not can always hyave something bent up.

well' this will be a very interesting experiment because you all KNOW I'm gonna put a Turbo on it and jiuce it. The interesting question will be...Will it run hot ? Looking at it yesterday I forgot how huge the radiators are in the older bodystyle. Thing is tremendous. I seriuosly doubt this will have an over heating problem.
