4x4 actuator upgrade

I can't get the www.*getdieselpower.*com
link to work anymore.

Still looking - mostly procrastinating before I go out in the cold.

How do you get the 4x4 floor shifter cover off?

Is there a place to access key on power under the connection cover on the right hand side of my 94 K3500? By the lift pump fuse?

I attached the brown wire up through the Shifter on the 95 Tahoe. But if I can access key-on power there I think that would work better.

If you have not got it figured out yet. The spacer goes in the hole that the old actuator comes out of. Just push it in there and forget it. Screw your new larger plastic actuator in the hole and snug it up. Plug in the wires to the actuator (this should be very self explanatory). OK. Take that LOOONG brown wire and carefully feed it back around the engine and up over the top of the tranny. Here you have two options. There is a sensor/switch on your transfer case. It too has a brown wire coming out of it. You can

A. splice directly into this wire and call it good.

or

B. Get in your truck, and pull all of the trim out from around your T-case shift lever. Once you can see the wiring harness coming through the floor open up the loom. You should see the same brown wire in that loom. This is generally the best place to splice into, since it is out of harms way and you dont have to worry about water and mud etc. getting into the connection. Dont get frustrated because its sometimes a pain in the ass to get the brown wire into the cab... but trust me it can be done.

I tried splicing into the brown wire inside the cab along the transmission tunnel. As you said, it was out of harms way. However, it never worked. Not enough slack on the brown wire there, so had to cut then splice. Your harness wire must go underneath the shifter base, so it gets pinched when the whole thing is tightened down. Better to splice into the brown on the transmission side of the plug behind the fuel filter manager. More accessible, out of the weather and definitely out of harms way.

My transmission tunnel splice failed after working only sporadically if not momentarily. Numerous attempts at testing and repair failed. In fact, tests showed the brown wire there was dead with the key on, which is why I finally gave up. So I cannot recommend splicing into the brown wire by going underneath the shifter base into the cab.

Thank you, Thank you very much
88-UP C/K ACTUATOR UPGRADE
VEHICLE SERVICED: 1994 CHEVROLET FULL SIZE BLAZER (2 DOOR)

PURPOSE: IMPROVE AXLE CONNECT ENGAGEMENT TIME AND
COMPONENT RELIABILITY.

SYMTOMS: NO FRONT DRIVE AXLE ENGAEMENT WHEN SHIFTED
INTO 4X4.

Obtain the following GM part numbers:
(1) 26060073 Actuator
(1) 88959465 Harness/Spacer Kit

Here's a shot of the old actuator before removal....

The original harness hookup..... You unhook the one on the right. The lower portion goes to the old actuator.

This is the old actuator removed....

I spliced the new brown wire inside to avoid corrosion problems.
I found that the brown wire that comes from the transfer case passes inside through the 4x4 floor shift
console. I loosened the four bolts that hold the mounting plate down and pushed the new wire in along
side the existing wires.

Here's a shot from under the 4x4 floor shifter showing somewhat where the wire goes through..
You can see it tucked under the connector with the brown wire coming out the end.

Apparently the really awesome pictures didn't copy and paste
