1994 K3500 extended cab dually

Now you need to attach a go pro on the gun so you can post some addicting amsr videos for us to watch LOL there is something about watching a silent video of pressure washing a car covered in moss or years of dirt LOL I bet watching paint would be even better haha.
No way I'm posting video evidence of my crap painting abilities.

That 77-78 Earl Scheib, i want that four door HDTP Caprice.
I once had one of those.
1972 Full Highway Patrol package, 454, auto, heavy duty dual exhaust.
That car would get 20 MPG all day.
One of the other salesman run my route while i was on vacation.
When I got back He commented on what a nice car that is and He was especially impressed with the fuel mileage.

We had a 4 door Caprice when first married. I don't remember what we did with it

Those are something that seems like it should just be so simple to do- but the few times I did them, I ended up replacing them later. And rebuilt ones from shops seem to have a higher than expected failure rate.

I wish I understood the fine details better. My Hummer needs a reseal is all but I’m super leery to mess with it.

I hope yours turns out awesome.

I haven't been able to get mine to stop leaking out the bottom where the pitman arm attaches but maybe I put in a seal backwards, it's been a few years. The most maddening part of re-assembly was feeding those steel balls in along the worm gear shaft. They kept falling out so I eventually put in a little bearing grease to hold them in place and put it all in as one assembly.

The manual said to plug the ends of that tube with petroleum jelly, so you were on the right track!

Check the ID of where the sector shaft rides. from what I have found, the main failure is the housing becomes stretched or egged causing the sector shaft where the pitman arm attaches to have side to side play. when I rebuilt mine I found this after installing a new roller bearing into the housing. if you can find a machine shop that will do it, the best fix for them is to have to bore reamed out so that a steel insert can be installed with tighter tolerances then the new bearing installed.

the older gear boxes used a bronze bushing instead of a roller bearing. for ours, there are two bearings made. one that is a solid needle bearing and one that has a plastic roller carrier or cage which puts spacing between each needle. the type that has the plastic cage is the one to avoid as the cage allows for sloppyness.

I have a perfectly good box sitting in the garage that I rebuilt but has this issue with the side to side play on the sector shaft. I wish there was a fix for them like an over size bearing or something. it's just a poor design all together.

I rebuilt several steer boxes from the 7000 and 7500 series GM trucks, Dodge and Ford too.
IIRC that those balls are two different sizes and the larger ones were stained black, had to look real close as the ones I did there was not much black left on them balls.
