    Sudden no start

Thanks for the link. I'll go through that this weekend and see what it turns up. BTW, I think I'll replace the fuel filters and the O-ring on the shaft of the air bleed valve - along with the OPS and relay - just for good measure.

    Sudden no start

T-valve? Is that the air bleed valve screwed into the top of the filter housing?

    Sudden no start

Well, now I don't know what to think. I jumpered the relay and had good fuel flow. Started right up. Then I put the relay back in and re-started it again - no problem - like nothing ever happened. The reason I find this so confusing is that I had already pulled and reinserted the relay a...

    Sudden no start

This is the setup I have in my truck. So, I'm thinking that if I jumper this relay, and it pumps fuel, that rules out the pump being the problem, right? If so, and it starts I have an OPS problem, but if it still doesn't start, then we're back to a PMD issue.

    Sudden no start

Anybody in the greater Seattle area (or better yet, south King/north Pierce county) area with a spare PMD I could try?

So just pull the plug up and out over the top of the original PMD?

    Sudden no start

Yeah, I'm well-versed in the evils of demon ether. I waited until the GPs cycled off before giving it a half second blast, let it crank a few seconds before giving another little blast, etc. I've found that with the proper juducious application a little ether can be very helpful starting a...

    Sudden no start

Yeah, I know. Ether is downright dangerous with these high compression motors. That is why I only gave it a little whiff - like a quarter to a half second blast at a time. The only spare PMD I have is a grey one, and from what I understand they aren't plug-n-play compatible with the black...

    Sudden no start

OK, 2 new discoveries to report. I took the fiberglass "shroud" off the top of the engine and between the pump and the firewall is a black filter housing abour 3" in daimeter. It has a knob on top that I unscrewed and removed. the knob has about a 1" long x 3/8" diameter tube on the bottom side...

    Sudden no start

I have a 95 3/4 ton Suburban, had it for a couple of months now, no issues (except for replacing the batteries). Truck is bone stock as far as I've been able to determine. 48 hours ago the wife drove it to haul a load of stuff to the recycling place. Started and ran just fine. Today she...

How big is the tank in this TANK?

So it doesn't build up in the tank, right? LOL, that sounds just the kind of "secondary benefit" that some pencil-necked bean counter would come up with (the $2 per unit manufacturing cost savings being the first benefit, of course). After driving it for 7 days worth of commuting it got down...

    Optic Sensor Fooler?

ak diesel driver: I got your PM and am ready to send the box out to your brother. Just one question - is the address you gave me his home adress or is it his business address? I'll need to know when I print the label to ship it to him. On the UPS web site where you create the shipping label...

FSD/PMD "Points to Ponder" How hot does it get

That's the waterproofing I was talking about. I hate the idea of gluing it to the heatsink and the possibility of it not being water-tight...

    Optic Sensor Fooler?

COOL! Please PM me his address. I will print the label for an 18 lb package (to cover the weight of the packing material) and that should cover it. Let him know he'll receive an empty box and packing material with a pre-printed, pre-paid label inside. All he needs to do is put the pump in the...

How big is the tank in this TANK?

Unbelievable! What kind of engineer designs a vehicle fuel tank with the capacity of a freakin' oil drum and doesn't put any kind of slosh baffle in it?!? GEEZ!

FSD/PMD "Points to Ponder" How hot does it get

Good points - I can see the temp swing you're talking about in a lot of places - in hot climates when you have a working AC system and use it. None of those conditions apply in my case ;) I was of the impression that the aluminum back plate of the PMD doesn't come sealed to the plastic body...

How big is the tank in this TANK?

Yeah, I've been suspicious about the stock sender. My guage needle swings and wobbles a lot when just driving down the road. When driving I have to watch it a few seconds to determine the center point of its high/low swings, and that's what I take as my "real" reading. Of course once I stop for...

How big is the tank in this TANK?

Boy, I sure hope so! 600 miles / 42 gallons = 14.3 mpg! Even at only 16 mpg you should get 672 miles... Of course at that point the cost of the fillup would be pretty painfull!
