    exhaust clamp

You need a new clamp. We use these things all the time on turbocharged airplanes and there is a service limit as to how much gap there must in the open space of the clamp where the bolt goes. They do stretch with time and heat.

    death in the family

Sorry to hear it Dave. The old saying of "they don't make them like they used to" is true of that generation. We are not as tough as they were. To your grandfather: Thank you for your service to our country!

    noob questions

That probably is more accurate Oregon than the amount I estimated but I wasn't putting in the ATT. If you did the ATT also you might be better off than with a 7.3. The bad part about the 7.3 is they are now getting long in the tooth as well and the repairs on those wont be as cheap as they are...

    Totally stumped!!...help a brotha out!

I bought the NAPA balancer and pulley about 3 months ago and I haven't had any problems with them yet. Wish me luck. The good thing about my NAPA is the guy that owns it lives here locally and he would replace something that went bad like that in a short amount of time. He has really good...

    noob questions

Everyone here has posted good points. I agree the 6.5 can be a good diesel with good upkeep and maintenance but you are going to spend a good deal of money to get one the way it needs to be to be used. I am talking about $1500-2000. Dont mean to scare you away but by the time you do remote...

    95 Suburban throwing DTC78

It was the solenoid. I could pop it with a screwdriver and get vacuum at the turbo but it would not cycle vacuum but only a few seconds. Tried the WD40 trick to no avail. Bought a new one yesterday and it works again. How much low end throttle response do I lose with the ATT? I like the...

    95 Suburban throwing DTC78

Have been getting the flashing on and off SES the last couple of trips. I have noticed it seems down on power and have seen a little black smoke on acceleration and up hills. Have not checked the vacuum system yet as I just got home a little bit ago and it is midnight. Code says vacuum...

    Fuseable links

1995 Suburban 2500. Had a battery post short out between the + side and the frame. Have a load or ground problem now and was wondering where they all are. How is the proper way to check them? Thanks.

    Electrical problems...big problems

Had the batteries load checked today and they were both OK. I checked the grounds on the rear of the engine and the battery grounds to the frame and cleaned them and put them back. Where else should I look for the grounds? What about fuseable links; where are they all located?

1995 Suburban dies when letting off throttle

I have removed all the rubber before this happened but I used a bolt and a nylon lock nut. The bolt backed out and there you have it. Should have gone with the stud and 2 nuts I guess. Is the guy that invented the side post still alive? We should all look him up some day and .....well you...

    Electrical problems...big problems

Thanks everyone. I will start going through all the above checks tomorrow if it rains. My son plays travel league baseball and we are in a tournament today and tomorrow. Its supposed to rain here all night and tomorrow so maybe I will have a chance to get on it tomorrow.

    Electrical problems...big problems

I did do the battery voltage check with a voltage meter at the battery. It was around 14.3 with a load applied or not. Alternator works because when I unplug it voltage goes down to around 12.8

    Electrical problems...big problems

Posted last night about the engine stopping when letting off the throttle. The problem was the battery post bolt had backed out. Found it today going down the highway and the gauges went dead. The post had backed out and was touching a metal bracket behind the battery on the drivers side and...

1995 Suburban dies when letting off throttle

Have not tested fuel pressure with the new pump. Have a lot better flow when bleeding after install than with old one. The remote mounted PMD is a new one with a harness from Pensacola Diesel. I do have a diesel cap and I meant to run it loose on the way home tonight and forgot to do it. I...

1995 Suburban dies when letting off throttle

Also I filled up with fuel today before this happened. I got fuel at the same place I always do and I always add the Standadyne fuel treatment like always. I did notice I had a good bit of vacuum in the tank when I opened the cap.

1995 Suburban dies when letting off throttle

Alright guys fix me up. I bought this thing about 2 months ago and have gone through it pretty well. I have remote mounted PMD which I installed right after I bought it. I have since done all the filters and routine maintenance on the vehicle. I then installed new glows and injectors and...
