So I just got off the phone with Dayco tech. Evidently there is nothing that physically locks the outer ring. So basically nothing to be gained by trying to use better parts. Didn't last any longer than my OEM one.
So when my stock one went out the outer ring was about 20* off from the powerbond. Now the powerbond is about 20* off from the FD. I had been getting a vibration at idle which is what the stock one was doing when I replaced it. I'll report back if this cures it. The vibration had gone away until...
There's a pretty good article online about fixing reverse. Basically you adjust it for band wear. My reverse went totally out and I did the adjustment. Been working good so far. Got around 20k more miles on the tranny so far
