what about the old "Italian tune-up" with the water bottle!! That will remove any carbon on the valves and pistons. also these GM engines to have to have the throttle bodies removed from time to time and cleaned out with a good carb or brake cleaner that resolves the build up. use an old...
Not sure if your running any injector cleaners in the fuel, but you might try dousing the tank with some lucas injector cleaner along with a full tank of non-ethanol for the trip.
Well I figured I would dig this thread back up since I have started playing with some injectors. I also have to give @MrMarty51 and @Big T a shout out for helping me make this happen and get going on this.
I know Big T and Will still wants to know about those old marine units, I have not...
Wasn't it the 506 blocks that had the squirters that started somewhere in 97-98? I need to see if I can pull the block cast number on the 93 which is supposed to have a 99 year engine in it. I know my 95 has a 599 block and does not have the squirters iirc
If your positive that the speedo gauge is at fault, I would go looking for a cluster in the JY of the same year even a gasser and open it up swap out the faulty gauge. I have don't that before on my 95. just swapping out the gauge it's self will allow you to keep your cluster and still show...
I've encountered this a couple of times on the pitman arm gear box nut after replacement. both on my 95 and on the dodge truck. drove for a couple of months and noticed slop in the steering. go to check with my son working the steering wheel. both times found that nut had some loose!!
Look what I just found on the jungle site.... it's a fuel pump relay kit but will work the same for the starter and a known brand too..

Here are some sockets that will mount.

and a relay without the mount.

at least 10 from the junction block (assuming your 94 has one) and same going down to the starter but also covered in some heat resistant sleeve near the starter. as for a relay and socket. if you get one off the jungle site or other places, try to find one that the socket has the mounting...
If you want to get fancy, you can add in a override switch next to the relay to create a steel me junction under the hood. allows you to crank the engine without anyone in the captian's chair while your working on things. same concept we have for the lift pump override.
Just take the existing exciter wire from the starter and re-route it up to a convenient place on the firewall. this wire becomes the exciter for the relay. run main power from a junction block or from the battery to the relay and then back down to the starter. the last terminal of the relay...
Adding a relay will save on your ignition switch. the contacts inside can't handle the load over time, even worse with the chineesium ones.
Also if you ever go to install a remote start unit the relays within it will never burn out.
Got the 93 all buttoned up. started messing with the heater control motor since for some reason it decided to quit the last week. pulled it from the dash, tried actuating it hot to cold and it would go some and stop mid way. was going to go get a new one until I saw how much they were for...
