That true if your replacing the existing shim.
When I punch out a shim from whatever thickness I need, I put it under the original shim. I have taken them back apart 80k later and it showed no signs of wear.

It's not just DS4s. It's not an electrical issue. It has to do with the tolerance between the plunger and bore. The mechanical pumps have the same parts and issues.

Yes. Well....new used. I had a few sets so I picked and cleaned the best. The ones in it didn't have a colored end so I figure they where cheap ones or something.

You cursed me! My truck wouldn't restart after a quick trip into the department store today. Go back in and buy a gallon of water, dump it on the IP and off she goes.

No, cold starts will get harder and harder. I had a customer go for 6 months carrying jugs of water. Come January when the water would freeze he finally did the pump.

A bad IP will start fine cold and within 5 or so minutes of shut down. After shut down the pump heat soaks and the tolerance in the pump lets it bleed down and not build pressure. Cold water on it shrinks the housing and tightens up the bore and the plungers can build pressure. I have had 6...
I had the same problem with a 4l60e truck. It ran me through the ringer. Turned out to be a bad ignition switch. Check all the grounds

Let's get one together, Get the dates and details worked out. It would be cool if we could find a place with a dyno to host it. Maybe we can get a group rate. Set up a grill or two, some coolers with road sodas..... I know most of us are on both sites, can we post this on both sites? I don't...
After test drive and break-in I noticed boost numbers were erratic. 8-10 on minute 5-6 the next. After looking things over I took off the waste gate control and moved the arm by hand. I found it had a catch about half way closed. So I took the back off to get a look at what was going on and I...
