The heat shield is mounted above the starter with one lip under the starter bracket to block bolt and the other lip to an smal L shaped bracket under a transmission bell housing to engine stud. Sorry,got no pic

That bore used to be a wide open coolant jacket ( at least it was with the head from a 95 that i cut up cause it did not have these plugs in it Crack repair between the valves used to be done with drilling the bore up to accept a pressed in valve guide. It sealed the crack and still left...

Is that plug in the dimple between the valves where they usually crack?

When i did my engine i took all the lifters apart and cleaned them out,..was lots of gunk in there!

Yeah but you seem to break things on a regular basis that nobody else can if they tried ;)
