Rebuild Time

Ah! I had the same problem. Luckily the pic I took of the engine sitting on the ground showed me what I needed.

1908 seems like the height of the industrial revolution. Not much in the world is really new by then with few exceptions and or application.

I thought I would pressurize the oil system before installing the valve covers, good thing I did as #3 intake valve has no oil flowing through the push rod. The rod is open. Oh joy.

Oh now I see.

When i did my engine i took all the lifters apart and cleaned them out,..was lots of gunk in there!

Kinda surprised you didn't just go new on lifters right off the bat.
In hindsight I should have, I was trying to save time. I pulled the heads and cleaned all the lifters, waiting on new gaskets now.

There's no need to pull the heads to get the lifters out!
It's a lot easier and I was having second thoughts on reusing the gaskets after the first block issue. With studs, if they leak I have to pull the engine.

Don't you just love it doing everything twice!:hungover:

You're almost an assembly worker now,...mebbe there's an opening at GM for ye :D

Never a good move to chance things when it involves serious work after you find out it wasn't the right choice. Saving a few bucks now can be expensive later.
Good idea changing to another set of head gaskets Leo.

Original torque on the gaskets was just over 75 ft/lbs. I thought going to 110 would still be OK. On second thought the way things have been going, no way.
