I guess it depends on what you want. I would rather see well than look good. And, as they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I kind of like the WT grille. :smile5:
If you want the best headlights, I suggest swapping to a Work Truck grille and running Cibie E Code headlights. You will need to install relays and the related wiring but the results are well worth it.
I painted the exhaust housing with black VHT and had the intake housing & heat shield powder coated in hammertone silver.
I also painted the downpipe, manifolds & crossover with black VHT.
Seems to be holding up so far.
I went with the Flowmaster. My original crossover was in good shape, but decided to change when I installed the new engine. I also changed to a GM8 at the same time. I already had a 3" downpipe and exhaust system. I chose the Flowmaster crossover as I wanted 2¼" tubing. I think 2½" is a...
The original glow plugs are 7/16". I know the Bosch GPs are 10mm, others may be also. Unless you know what is in there, I would have a deep 7/16" socket at the ready. Snap On makes a special 7/16" socket with a tab to hold the GP. Makes it a bit easier but not a real necessity.
Replacing the HB is very easy. Almost any cheap ($10-15) universal puller from Harbor Freight or any chain auto parts store will remove the balancer. I use a bearing shell on the flywheel teeth to keep the crank from spinning, which requires the crossover & trans cover to be removed. I use a...
Most universal balancer installer kits do not have the correct thread for the crank. At least the ones I found didn't. That is why I made a tool from an old bolt. I don't recall the thread, its metric and an uncommon one at that. Hard to find the bolts anywhere except a large wholesale...
The AMG engine has about 800 miles on it now and I'm very happy so far. Its running well with no problems. I changed the oil at 400 miles, but I haven't really hammered it yet. It runs pretty well, I think better than before but its hard to tell. In another 200 miles or so, I figure it will...
I've been away at a charity event, but I found a new AC Delco unit on eBay for less than $200 shipped, so its on the way. I hope to install it next weekend.
Thanks for the replies!
BTW, they are still available new from the dealer, but at a pretty high cost!
The hydraulic brake booster on the Suburban is leaking, so I guess its time to replace it. I have been told to stay away from the rebuilds as they tend to leak soon after installing. Anyone have any experience with these or any tips on replacement? Thanks!
OK, OK OK! Replacing the actuator really did not lend itself to pictures and I really wasn't in a picture taking mood! In any event, here is what I did. The recurculate door actuator is located on the front of the evaporator/heater housing, just in front of the blower motor. Basically between...
Let me tell you, replacing the actuator is a horrible job. I cannot believe they designed something like this. With a small amount of reworking, this could have been a 15 minute job. In any event, if you have to do this, I feel sorry for you.
Just to wrap this up, I ordered a new overflow bottle and installed it. The newer bottle does route the hose away from the hood hinge, so I think its an improvement.
The old bottle had the small hose coming up and then making a 90 degree turn forward. With the K47 airbox, the hood hinge...
Yes new motor and burnt wires repaired. Blower motor now works great, it was cutting out at times before the repair. Should have a new actuator tomorrow, so I'll see if that is the problem.
