I just replaced my entire fuel system from the tank sender outlet to the IP for under $300 by shopping around. The FASS isn't as much overkill as the Raptor 100.
Ever since I started tuning it more aggressively last year, the '93 style lift pump would zero out all the time.
I retained the...
Correct, it's for tuning for the most part but this piece is just building commands that can be sent to the truck for diagnostics purposes. Kind of like using a GM tool such as a TECHI, but it's on your laptop with a USB or Serial cable connected to the truck. I'll get more details up on how...
Time to let the cat out of the bag!
I've been working on this for awhile and finally got a prototype working. My end goal is to develop as many of the mode $04 factory diagnostic commands out in TunerPro-RT (freeware).
Ever since I had to buy the software when replacing my IP last year, I...
Level 1 works fine but 2 is too much line pressure for longevity of the trans. Best to do the tweaks in the tune instead of with the B&M because you aren't just jacking uo the pressure "all the time"
Same here, I switch between 8 and soldered the switcher up myself. You can get all the hardware from Moates and it's not perfect but it works. The MPC isn't the only option to switch tunes, it's just the only one that is specific to the 6.5. You can fit a Moates GX 28 pin adapter in the PCM...
It really is a gamble. I have my 12cm^2 set at 15PSI and I've been warned so I'm weary of WOT pulls with Buddy's fuel curve. It really depends on how much fuel you are getting on the OBD2 tune.
Have any data to back this one up? The tunes actually show the value is only respected under 1800 RPM which is why I ask.
Granted it's still no performance gain, I just don't know where the WOT statement comes from
Swapping to the non-EGR intakes is something I always recommend. The EGR intakes are a huge restriction even when you block them with a freeze plug
I have 2 stock PROM chips if you want a stock tune that gets rid of EGR codes.
What's your thinking behind this? There are much more serious engines on earth that only vac from one valve cover.
Unless you are just running a breather tank.
Good thing I didn't give up easily
Its just a plcc32 to 28 pin stacked adapter. Same concept as current aftermarket chips and actually way ahead of its time for being produced in 94.
No worries, that's what these threads are for after-all.
The stock Holset actuator is 20PSI. I swapped on a 1 Bar actuator from my old 300zx parts pile (that's roughly 14.5 psi) for now. Once I get my hands on a 10 psi pot, that'll be what I use. You need maintain some spring resistance to...
The 12cm is a good start for me and it's easy to change later. I got an awesome deal on this turbo and it's not Chinese so that's a plus for me.
Yes, the boost control only lets you adjust up from whatever spring the actuator has in it.
Water wetter is the only additive I believe in other...
I started this over on DP, but figured I would dabble on TTS too :p
My build is "Just Because" ... well, because none of it is necessary, but i'm sure I'll have a blast
Here is the checklist:
Genuine New Holset WH1C - 12cm turbine
Custom wastegate actuator. In-Cab adjustable
PTWiring...
The interchangeable part of the chip is free (it's on every CPU motherboard I have laying around) and these units plentiful since their base tune wasn't that great and most people swap them out.
Thus my desire to flash it. I figured i'm going in solo but wanted to fish and see what I get...
I have a couple of these <unnamed> 6.5 prom chips sitting here. Have any of the gurus tried to write tunes to these or is the binary addressing changed that it wouldn't work? I was figuring they just made them this way to use a cheaper setup for mass production but am not sure. The removable...
The heads all crack between the valves and doesn't necessarily mean they are bad.
I have a good set of STD 97 pistons if you need them. Just pulled them from a motor I got that seized a rod.
You can rent the puller at advance or autozone for "free". I just did it last week and it's the power steering pulley remover for GM. Works on the power steering and vac pump.
With their tool rental, you pay full price for the tool, then get it back ~5 days when the return clears your credit card.
