Sounds a lot like what I want to do. IF I ever hear back from the machine shop that my block is ok! I don't have that header, but I ported a set of exhaust manifolds and am thinking about building an 18cm Hx40 with a 60mm wheel. Twist it- don't lug it!

Hold up!! At 4:30 a phone call confirmed that they had removable valve seats. A 7:35 email said they DON'T have removable valve seats. I'm a bit of a pessimist on this one- gonna go with they don't have them unless somebody here has proof to the contrary. Bummer

I just confirmed with Promaxx that their heads have replaceable valve seats.

Ready to go to the machine shop for hot tank, magnaflux, then (hopefully) decking and honing.

Does it matter which way the oil port on the lifter faces? Mine were all different. Machine shop said about 4 weeks turnaround for the block and crank.

Forgot to mention that the block has the oil squirters, but main bearings with only one hole and (I assume) a standard volume oil pump.

That's the plan Will, as long as the block checks out. I hope to have it decked the minimum necessary and honed only, as long as the bores are round. I will "melt" all the sharp edges in the bottom of the block before I send it.

Crank is out, block looks good. I will be sending both out to be magnafluxed.

I read that the Promaxx heads have replaceable valve seats, which puts them ahead of Optimizer heads that cost almost twice as much. I will verify before I buy.

Hey Will! How ya been? Looking back, there always seemed to be debate over whether or not the pistons in the n/a Optimers were heat treated. I can say for certain now that in 2006, they were not!

Hope not. I hope to unbolt the mains and pull the crank Saturday. So far, everything looks real good. Pulled motor due to cracks in the heads between the valves. Then I found that the pistons all had spider web cracks as well, no doubt due to lots of fuel and lots of w/m injection.

Say a prayer for her fellas. Everything looks great so far. Need to get the crank out to really look at the webbing. Hopefully cleaning up the decks and a light hone in the cylinders. If the block is good, HV oil pump, studs, heads and 18:1 pistons (ceramic coated).

Not a 6.5 post, per say, but I recently used my dad's '13 HD with a 6.0 to pull my Massey Harris to a fair for a tractor pull. Driving over the mountain, I found that the truck could not hold 3rd gear with 8k of trailer behind it. It's a beautiful truck- loaded, garage kept with 23k miles on it...

At the suggestion of another member, I'm posting pics of my driver's side pistons. Passenger side look them same. Not a great day for the 6.5!
