Yukon diesel (Mass)

Are you in need of a vehicle right now?

If so, then roll the dice...

If not I suggest you keep looking...needs to much & after you will be upside down on it, especially if that tranny with the brown fluid or that tired motor chits the bed.

Rust - bad body
Bad trans.
Worn engine.

At least the "clunkers" I buy have a rust free body. I have done a trans and engine ONLY because the body was good. Then I smacked an Elk. So I bought a bent up rust free body 6.5 of the same year and swapped everything but the front fenders, cab, and diffs. This includes gutting the cab to the metal. I kept the wiring harness. The powertrain is planned to swap incl transfer case, but the current engine runs and the trans is good. Yes, I just swapped the drive shaft last night.

Fly to AZ and drive a 6.5 back. Swap the dash and you have a rust free towing mule.

Why deal with something that rusted unless you don't fix the body. You would be backwards very fast trying to just fix the body. If It was only $1500 it might be worth it.

i'd pass on it, with the amount of work that your expecting and as always more pops up than expected, there are better deals.

This pretty much sums up my opinion. If the body was rot free, it would be worth it. Otherwise what are you really starting with here that is good? The motor is probably ok, but there are alot of unknowns. In the long run, you are probably better off to buy one in a little nicer shape. just my .02

After spending 4 hrs working on my other wrung out douchebag 6.5 I think the answer is now clear. sell them all and buy a Duramax.
Newer more expensive problems. More electronics. More insurance. More payments. More for licence plates. Do you really think you will be any happier? Jumping from one to another has gotten you all kinds of new problems and not any better off. Stick with one and do what it takes to make it work.

Is that what goes wrong with them ? I am looking at a 2000 Ram 3500 Dually at 3pm today. If they will give me atleast 5K for my Chevy it's going to be a done deal.

Seems to be the major cause....

Good luck with that Ram! Let me know how it turns out...

It was a rag. For S and G I'll write it up in the Dodge section later. What a rag. I told the sales manager to send it to the auction. It will probably be at Lee's.
