With a Bang , she's gone.

Sad part is I have a colledge cert in Auto trans rebuilding, but that was 22 yrs ago. Stuff has changed alot.

Give it a try man, what do you have to lose except a few thousand dollars by not trying?

Basics are all there. Forums are here for help. You'll be golden.

I learned years ago that saving the 200$ they charge for R&R is not worth it because alot of rebuilds have issues and then I gotta pull it out again. Much easier to just bring it back and say..."FIX!!"

Sorry to hear that Kenny, good luck finding a rebuilt or rebuilding yours.

Leo

Hey Kenny, don't give up if you can hang in there. You're too well-loved around here buddy!

I would never leave. we are kicking around keeping the Pickup and dumping the Pilot and Tahoe but then I just found a 97 Suburban 4x4 with 109k for 6800$. It looks showroom condition. These damn 6.5s are like a damn addiction....:D
Truck is sweeetttt. All leather, power everything. it looks spotless in the pics. Ya figure even if i got 3500$ for the Tahoe and then add the 3k for the tranny job it's same amount but the burb's only got 109K. Think it's an 8 lug too.

I would gamble that. I'm calling now. I "believe" the diesel ones are not the same. I know the TH700s were not.

FWIW, I was researching transmissions yesterday for JRSAVOIE and spoke with the local GM parts counter guys. In his words, no difference in the transmissions (same part number for the gas or diesel apps) but the diesels do have a different, heavier duty, torque converter which is the same one used in the big block gassers. Go figure. I'd post up the part numbers but you've already got the torque converter and, as it turned out, I dropped a digit somewhere in both of them...:mad2: So much for my helping JR!:rolleyes5:.

Hope it all turns out the way you want...repair or replace with the Burb.

I like the "novelty" of the 2 door, but trying to stuff wife, kid toys 2 dogs(one is a great dane) into the 2 door is becoming impractical.
