Finally got me one of these mirrors. Mine has auto dim, compass, and temperature. I also scored the temperature probe that mounts in front of the truck.
Mine has 7 wires. They are brown, green/black, green, pink, gray, black, and orange.
I am trying to figure out what wire goes where. Correct me if I am wrong, from this thread I am guessing they go,
Black = ground
Pink = ignition power
Brown = temperature probe
Green/Black = temperature probe
Gray = ??
Green = What is the reverse signal? What does it connect to?
Orange = 12+V constant What for, to keep compass in working order???
What does the gray wire connect too?
I pulled this out of around a 99 suburban.
I got this for $7 at the pick and pull.
I have a schematic for this mirror in a Sub since this is the same mirror I found for my 94 pickup. If I can get my daughters help to scan and transfer it to my computer I'll post the schematic. In the meantime I'll post in writing.
For the black, pink, brown, and green/black wires you have the functions correct.
Gray goes to outside mirrors. It supplies the negative to actuate the electrochromatic function.
Green is the reverse signal which according to my schematic resets the mirror to daytime high reflectivity when the vehicle is in reverse.
Orange; my schematic doesn't have an orange wire. Instead it has two pink wires. One pink wire is coming from the fuse block and is hot in run or start and goes directly to the mirror. The second pink wire comes from the mirror and goes to the outside mirrors and apparently supplying positive power to operate the electrochromatic function.
The schematic doesn't show anything for a compass. I'm guessing the compass is totally enclosed within the mirror and gets power from the pink wire that comes from the fuse block. My mirror had no wires for the compass function.
I never did complete the wiring for my mirror. I got the temp sensor working and stopped. I need to get back to finishing the wiring.
I was able to get my daughters' help so here's the schematic. This is the first time I've ever tried to post a schematic so I hope it is clear enough to be usable.

edit: the schematic ended up being small and hard to read. I am at a loss as to how to improve the schematic making it easier to read. If anybody knows what to do the help would be appreciated.
